Opinions About Build to Grow Cribs (Couple of Questions)

i have a convertible crib & i love it! right now it is the toddler bed (which is actually more like a day bed) ours did have the sliding side, & then you just take it off for the toddler to make it a day bed (we have a girl, as this kind is prolly not as suitable for a boy) this summer we are going to convert it to the full bed...good luck! & congrats!

if you sell your ragazzi on craigslist maybe you wont feel so bad about spending the money on a new crib if you dont use it as long as you think you might!

My husband and I thought this would be the absolute best way to go. What more could we need, it was all inclusive. So we ventured out found one that would suite both a boy or a girl, bought it, brought it home, built it, rearranged the room, and had every thing ready for our little one to enjoy it once it was time. Well the crib worked out perfectly. We were able to get very good use out of the crib. But now that are son is turning 2 next week, he share's a room with his older brother and he hates the toddler bed. He wants a big boy bed like his big brother. Thus, he sleeps in bubba's bed and Bubba sleeps on the couch until we can get another twin. It is impossible to know if your child will take to it or not. I think if my boys had their own rooms maybe it would be different. Good luck on deciding.

We have a convertible crib and have been happy with it. In fact we had to change it to a toddler bed in an "emergency" last week and was very glad we were able to do that (he ripped a hole in his crib tent and got his head stuck so we had to convert it immediately since he could climb out of the crib without the tent.) Anyway, the one we have does have the drop side.

a few thoughts: ragazzi crib: you can sell it in craig's list or a consignment store. you could get some good money for it. if you liked it so much for your son, why not for your daughter?

about the grow crib: we did that(sometimes I think that I would have wanted to get her a "dora" todler bed, etc. for the cute stuff). I don't regret getting the grow crib. We got ours before our son was born (He's 8 now) then we used for our daughter and now it's our daughter twin bed. one thing... they can be heavy.

about dressing your baby... most times I ended up getting down on the floor to dress them (as you will when they get a bit older) my thought about that is that they can't fall off the floor. I would open a big towel and there we were =)

I used the changing table mostly for changing diapers. and just think if you'll like the same bed 5 years from now.

It's actually hard to find cribs that have a slide down bar these days due to the fact that they have found them to be unsafe. I searched everywhere for one before having our son. I went to consumer reports only to find that they recommend not getting one that has the slide down rail. There was an article on consumer reports about how many injuries and deaths came with that. I am short (5'4), and I was a little concerned about how that would work, but we went ahead and got one that didn't slide down. I never once had any issues with it. I will say it did get just a little bit harder when he started standing, and we moved the mattress down, but it wasn't as hard as I had thought it would be.

I think you will enjoy it, and it was nice not having to get a new one when going to a toddler bed. Good luck, and congratulations on the new one.
