If her parents have health insurance, a nutritionist is a great place to start.
The nutritionist can talk to her about her food cravings, and show her what
a proper diet looks like. The whole family needs to get on board for this lifestyle change, though. If it's just the girl having to "diet" she will resent it and rebel against it. Likely if she's singled out for it she will just gain more.
If the whole family does it- she will more likely go along with it because she
isn't being singled out.
Another good thing to do for the girl and her whole family is to measure food.
I was shocked when I started measuring my food. My portions were too big.
Eat on a smaller plate. And, if she gets hungry while she's adjusting her body to the new portions- she should drink a glass of water and eat a carrot, some celery, or an apple. Those won't hurt her overall "diet"-
Oh- and cut out as much refined, processed foods as possible. If it comes in a box, a bag, a can, or pouch - you probably shouldn't eat it.
And encourage her to play for at least 60 minutes a day.
