One Year Molars Coming Early?

Do you have a child that got their eye teeth and/or molars early? I have a ten month old who is getting both. She has been miserable and not sleeping much at night. Tylenol is the only thing that seems to help, but I hate to give that to her so often. Do you have any other good relief ideas???

What can I do next?

I alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hrs as told by my ped. Also, Wal-Mart sells homeopathic teething pellets that disolve in baby's mouth. They work wonderfully! They are on the vitamin aisle.

Hey E.,
My son got his teeth early! He is 17 months and had 18 teeth and is currently getting his two year molars! He basically had diarrhea for a month straight while teething and we gave him pedialite popcicles which really helped the pain and was entertaining for him. Hope that helps, it will be over soon!

Hi E.! I am the mom of 2 1/2 yr old triplets and they all got their teeth early and I used tylenol every 4 hours during sleeping hours. The ped told me that it can't hurt them to use it every 4 hours in fact it helps you and your little one to feel better. She reminded that a happy baby makes a happy mommy. She even offered me an RX for tylenol 3 when they were on to the molars because it was a very difficult time in my house.

Good luck!!

My son had ALL of his teeth (except the 5 year molars) by the time he was 10 months old.
I have been a nanny, before I was a mommy, for 7 years.
You can give tylenol and motrin on opposite schedules. Switch back and forth between the two. However, I would not give medication more than 7 days in a row.

Good remedies are:

>frozen carrots or pedialyte pops in one of those little mesh baggies that you get at Target or Walmart that are for learning to eat solids.

>Distraction. When she seems fussy or upset, give her a favorite toy or blanket to play with. A lot ot times, kids just want your attention and sympathy and you are training them to demand it more and more. She may be in a lot less pain than you think she is and you are reinforcing that if she cries, you will pick her up. She's training you.

>For sleeping, give a little bit (about 4 oz.) of Chamomile tea with a teeny tiny bit of sweetener (We like Splenda) in a bottle before bed time. A really good brand is the one called "sleepy Time" tea. It has a picture of a sleeping teddy bear on the box. You can get it at any grocery store. It really helped my son.

If all else fails, invest in ear muffs. HAHA.
Do NOT bring your child into your bed with you...you will start a whole new problem to write on message boards about!
Good luck! Remember, "this, too, shall pass....."

hm, slice a banana and freeze the pieces. after they're frozen put the pieces of banana in a cloth thingie and tie it real good and give it to her to chew on. the cold will take off the pressure she's getting in her gums. try not to use tylenol too much unless she's really really hurting. this too shall pass

My 14 month old's teeth came in the same way at about the same time. I used Tylenol and children's motrin switching medicine every few days i only used these for the worst case situations. Daily I used a homeopathic remedy called Hyland's teething tablets. They really seemed to work. They are available at Whole Foods and I'm sure some other grocery/pharmacies.
Good luck

oh yes i do! i have 3 kids and all got their teeth early and omg they were so miserable too. our pediatrician [ Dr. Nancy Aycock-Wallmen out of reisterstown,MD] her and the other Dr's came up with a solution that WORKS!!!! all my friends have done it too! you mix equal parts of mayloxx and chilrens benadryl. use your finger and just rub it on the childs gums. you can use it as much as needed.i think why this works is because of the two medicines one takes the inflamation down and the other numbs. with tylenol right before bed will let your child sleep much better. teeth are always worse at night. let me know how it works for you. HI E.,
Your best bet would be probably to rub some Night time Orajel on her gums at night, It works To numb whereever she is having pain in her gums from Errupting teeth...Ive gotten it under my finger nails forgotten to wash my hands after and my tongue has been numbed from it so it works and well. FOr the daytime they do have also regular Orajel, If you dont feel comfortable with giving so much Tylonal. Hope this helps.

Hi E.,
My husband and I swore by the Baby Orajel swabs as well as Tylenol. I've also heard of teething tablets working. A friend of mine uses them on her son and they seem to work pretty well. I think you can find them at Babies R Us and I may have seen them at WalMart too. Good luck and I hope you can find relief for both of you!!

my kid got all her teeth early...there are homeopathic remedies for this that we found so helpful. hyland's is one brand of teething pain formula. it was literally like flipping a switch---one minute she would be uncomfortable from the teething, and then after the homeopathic remedy she was smiling. worth a try...

Instead of using Tylenol us the infant Motrin. Our daughter went through the same issue and the doctor we saw at the night-time place told us to use the Motrin instead - seemed to work okay too!

If you are looking for a more natural way I use Vanilla Extract. My Cousin who is a Chiropractor told me about it. My husband tried out the baby orajel and it took 30 minutes for it to kick in. Although, his threshold of pain tolerance and medication is higher I can't imagine how long it would take for my baby seeing as it never worked for her. Plus, there is a limit to how much orajel you can use before it becomes dangerous. Give a good amount of vanilla extract a bath with lavender in it. The problem with anything cold at night is eventually it gets warm and it won't keep your baby asleep. Keep pacifiers handy too. I bought a Mums one that has a teething chewer on the sides that my baby just loves. Of course she is battling molars too.

I have seen people put certain types of pacifiers into the refrigerator or freezer (I think they might be called teething pacifiers). I have never tried it myself, but I thought it looked interesting and might be worth a try!
