Hey all. I'm looking to unload a lot of little boys clothes that I have accumulated with two boys! My oldest is three, so I have lots of <3 year old clothes, in good condition, from mainly Gymboree, Oshkosh, Carters, Children's Place and Janie and Jack. A lot of the clothes are newer things as well that I purchased for my younger son.

So here's my deal - I'm not looking to make tons of money. I'd be happy with a $1 or $2 per pant / shirt / pj etc. Does that seem reasonable? Or are they literally going to offer me like pennies for each item?

I have no time or energy whatsoever to do a consignment sale where I have to wash / iron / hang / label every garment, nor do I want to group them and photo them and list them on Craigslist or Ebay. I just want a quick way to sell my clothes, where I can make a little bit of money and hopefully someone else can get some use and enjoyment out of them. But if they are going to be picky and offer me pennies, I'd rather just donate the clothes.

So what is your experience?

Thanks!
K

I've actually had better luck with Kid to Kid and have felt like they have given me my money's worth. They're picky to a point but are more accepting of older seasons of clothes. No matter what call ahead to find out what sizes and gender they're buying. If you have a lot of bins you're bringing they want you to have an appointment.

I would recommend a garage sale, it takes a little time getting ready for, but you can definitely get at least $1 for each item. Then if you're willing to give "discounts" for big purchases, say if someone buys 10 things, give it to them for $8 or something. Especially with those brand names in good condition! I just had a garage sale last weekend with boy clothes, size newborn to 3T, and I sold about 2/3 of all my stuff (NOT name brand, mostly Target or Walmart or Carter's), for about $1 apiece (though I did 50 cents for some, depending on wear), and I made about $150. So not bad for a few hours of sitting outside (esp since the weather is cooling off, you'll get a lot of traffic through). And you can advertise your garage sale on Craigslist with a short description of items and that should help you get even more traffic through. Good luck!

When I have taken clothes there, I find each piece of clothing averages out to about $1.30 each.

My experience has been that they only want the more expensive brands so probably not Carter, but OshGosh and Gymboree. They are picky and I've given up on taking stuff in since you may or may not be taking most of it back out with you. They will not take stuff that is brand new simply because of the brand name. Up to you. Try taking it and if they don't accept alot of stuff then try craigslist. Hope this helps!
