I've seen bras, bathingsuits and lingerie at Goodwill... I think I'd just bag them up and drop them off. If little boys find em in the trash they'll just use them as sling shots ;)
I am in the fall cleaning mode and need to make room future purchases...I feel bad about the idea of throwing old bras away but I don't know what else to do with them and they certainly don't work for me. Some are in better shape than others but I don't think even a good will can take them? What are your suggestions?

I have no first hand experience with this group but someone else passed this information along to me about Support 1000 (http://www.support1000.org/)
History
Support1000 began as an initiative to collect 1,000 bras to donate to organizations that serve women.
We started with a single bra in November 2008 and today, thanks to generous donations from the public and retail stores, more than 10,000 bras have been donated, and as of January 2011 Support1000 has sent over 6,000 bras around the world to:
■schools
■churches
■organizations that provide attire for job interviews
■homeless shelters
■residential facilities for recovering addicts
■Sioux tribes
■a village in Kenya
■many other organizations and social services professionals who serve women
In April 2009 we met our goal of collecting and donating 1,000 bras. Support1000 now stands as a commitment to satisfy a need that is much larger than imagined.
Call a womens shelter. Many women leave their home with nothing but the clothes on their back.
Or maybe a homeless shelter in the area?
Watermelon launching? Pea shooters? LOL
Sadly, if there are visible elastic threads showing - trash em OR in lieu of trashing - if you are a gardenter, cut off the straps and use them for tomato plant ties. If you have molded cups vs. just cloth, you can use the cups as liners in between glass serving dishes or vases that you may stack to keep them from clinking together. If all cotton, shred into stripsand use in garden as well. If the hooks are in decent shape, cut the band with enough room to sew them or tack them onto kids halloween costumes or to tighten up a blouse in the back or as an extnsion for a tight waistband.:)
If they are in decent shape, take them to a women's shelter. they will bless someone more than you know!
Good luck!
I just donated a bunch to the women's shelter. They REALLY need them there. I called prior to dropping them off and they were EXCITED to get them because they were on the bigger size. I dropped the inches down but NOT the cup size (HOW does THAT happen?) Anyway, they were glad to get them and they were in good shape but they just didn't fit me anymore.
I saw someone on TV say that shelters are a great place to donate bras, as they are usually the one thing they need the most! :)
I hate to waste anything. I hold on to stuff just in case I can find another use for it years from now. I get that you can't stand the thought of tossing a perfectly good bra. Here's a suggestion: If it no longer works for you, then you should consider that maybe it's no longer perfectly good.
Seriously, even to a woman who has nothing, it is so insulting to presume that she can or should use what amounts to your trash. My bras I've outgrown after a couple of years of gentle treatment. If that's the case with you, please donate them. However, if your bras are tired and worn, then just toss 'em. They're not meant to be worn until they shred to pieces. It's faulty thinking that just any old thing is better than nothing at all.
If it means that much to you to donate, then maybe you can plan to gently use your bras and just buy new ones every year or every other year and donate the used ones. Or you can purchase some less expensive bras and donate new ones.
I throw out the old worn out crappy ones but donate anything in good shape. Usually I am getting rid of bras because they are worn out not because I'm growing!
Are you sure Goodwill or Salvation Army won't take them? I swear I have seen them there before. Or ask your local church too, they always have a clothes closet.
Remove any truly worn ones and dispose of those. Womens shelters, homeless shelters are greatful for these contributions as it is felt as awkward by so many and so they throw away a perfectly good item just because it doesn't fit anymore. Ingore anyone who would say it is demeaning to think anyone would want them. For someone who has nothing they are greatful to receive. Everyone in this economy should be learning lessons of excess, waste and how to trim budgets as a person who has lost their home and trying to find shelter and a job shouldn't have to use their hard earned cash on something most will never see.
I would either donate them to a women's shelter, or see if any of your friends kids need them, depending on the size. I'm a 32B (boooo!!) and my BFFs daughters a big-bones girl (and a bit overweight), so they fit her, and make great 'training bra's'.
Good Will does take them, but make sure they are clean and in good condition.
