No, I wouldn't go.

I'm scheduled to go to Outer Banks on Sunday and am changing my arrival depending on what happens.

No. I live in New England. My parents ( from TN) were coming this weekend. They just changed their plans til end of the month. Here we get lots of flooding from rain, and so, no, NJ would not be a place I would go for a vacation this weekend.

NO!!! You won't be able to swim because the ocean will just be too dangerous. Rip tide, current. In addition to rain and wind. Not worth it! I would plan for another weekend.

HELL NO! They say it will be a Cat 4 by then. Don't risk your lives. These are not "storms". They are life threatening, demolishing, powerhouses of wind and water and can take out a beach town in less than 30 minutes. I've been through a Cat 4, and trust me, I leave town now if it is a Cat 3, and I live on the coast. No way am I going to suffer through that again. No power, water for 2+ weeks, no grocery stores open because they're either demolished, or owners/staff cannot get to them to open them. Road impassible for weeks. See if you can change your vacation plans. It sucks, but going and then having to evacuate would not be worth it to me.

Hell no! Here in MA we are already getting automated calls with local shelters, numbers to call, things to have on hand, etc I don't think I would want to chance it especially having children.

They are asking all visitors leave by mid day Friday.

Governor Christy is all over the news saying that if you are a visitor, don't come! I'd check out nj.com for up to date info.

I think that if you go, you'll b seeing the inside of your hotel room for most of your visit and the stores will all be closed on the boardwalk. Better bring a cooler of food and some flashlights if you do go.

Sorry that your vacay is being ruined. But I would stay home :(

If I didnt' have any children and my life was my own then sure - if that's the risk you want to take. But as a mother - wouldn't even bother.

No. I would stay inland. Even if you don't get a direct hit (and you might), an indirect hit could still whip the winds up to over 100mph. NOT what you want to subject your kids to. I would bail. Start calling to see what fees you can get back.

We had a storm after Isabel that took out one of our 85 ft pine trees and people died when trees fell on their cars. Storms like the ones produced by hurricanes (and the hurricanes themselves) are nothing to mess with.

You do not want to be in traffic trying to flee in front of a hurricane. Trust me, That is not fun!!

If wherever you are going has hurricane shutters etc, and are prepared, then it might be ok. Actually, no, not if you have kids.

I've been through some massive tropical cyclones in Vanuatu and the expat population there bunkers (hunkers?) down and have cyclone parties. It was fun! But, better to be safe than sorry.

Not a smart move. Wildwood is right on the ocean and with the winds coming in it will push the water up further on the beach. In fact it might be all the way up the beach and then you are stuck in flooding. Try another time next month. August is a bad time for vacations because of this hurricane season. Besides the size of the hurricane coming is much more than I would want to deal with. Find a place nearby away from the house in PA and enjoy.

Nope I would not go. I live near Ocean City, MD. OC has already activated phase 1 evacuation plan meaning tourists are being asked to leave already as well as people living in mobile homes and known flooding districts. I'm quite sure NJ also has evac plans in effect as well. You may drive all the way there only to be turned away by authorities. I personally would not want to sit in all that traffic...yuk...never fails stuck in traffic and someone has to pee...lol.

Nope. Doesn't sound like a very fun weekend. At worst, you'll have a hurricane and need to evacuate. At best, you'll have rain and wind. I'd probably stay home.

Although you would probably be safe even if you did not have to evacuate the beach points can pretty quickly flood. Honestly I probably would not go because I would be worried about my car getting flooded. Sorry, that really stinks.

Stay home.
Or go somewhere west.
I'm looking at Noaa's warnings/cone interactive page and so far it looks like Wildwood is right on the hurricanes path.

Not a good plan. If it floods the area, you will literally be stuck there. You will also likely be stuck without power. Not fun.

Call and reschedule. I'm certain that the hotels are expecting this and will accommodate you.

People who elect to go into the path of a hurricane are crazy. I grew up in South FL. These storms are not something to mess around with. They cause major destruction and many times chaos. Why would you want to put yourself and/or your children in the middle of that? We ALWAYS evacuated (even when it was "recommended" and not "mandatory") because there's simply no need to be there.

I might go myself (I love to watch storms), but wouldn't expose my kids to unnecessary hazards, or even a prediction of heavy, activity-squelching rain.
