Ok So This Is a Strange Question

My 9 month old finally started sleeping through the night and for the last 2 weeks or so she has pooped early in the morning around 5-6am. Sometimes she wakes up for good and sometimes she goes back to sleep for another hour or so. So my problem is that her popping wakes her up and she is up so early in the morning (6 I don't mind as much as 5am). When she falls back asleep in her poop for that extra hour she is in pain when she gets up because the poop is dry or up her back and front and she gets so red. So my question what can I do to get her to poop right before bed? I know this is weird but I know she would sleep longer if her poop didn't wake her up.
Looking for any suggestions.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I almost posted this same question regarding my 10 month old who was waking with poops at around 5a almost daily. What happened is that after about a week or so he started eating more solids during the day and his poop schedule just shifted on it's own. Now he poops a good one fairly late in the day (around 5 or 6p) goes to bed at 7p and then his next poop usually comes mid morning after he's been awake for a while. In time, as your daughter starts eating more solids I'll bet it will shift on it's own. Just hang in there!

He he! I don't know if there is anything that you can do, but I know tummy massage can help them poo when they are constipated. Clockwise circles, then light pressure from ribs to pelvis, then knees pushed into tummy. Keep doing that sequence an hour or two before bed, and see if that helps :)

Yes, you just have to wait for her schedule to change. I laughed when I read this because I remember when we had this problem with my daughter, around 5 or 6 months, and we were like "Come on!" After a while she started going around 9 am and so she could sleep until her normal 7 am wake up time.

You could also use "bag balm". It is very inexpensive and is available in the pharmacy (no prescription needed but its usually behind the desk). It is only $3 or $4 at Costco. It is lanolin based and completely safe. It goes on thick and lasts all night. Good luck.

Really there is no way to teach your daughter when to poop. LOL... It is funny because my daughter does the same thing. Their bodies will adjust to their sleeping over time, but right now she needs to go when she does. My daughter just went thru a phase where she pooped in the morning and it woke her up, but now she is back to day time poopies! yea!!! She is 15 months. Hang in there....no question is silly! :)

Good Luck!

I would give her prunes for lunch or other foods that make babies poop. If you give it to her at lunch she should poop before bed and then maybe she won't need to again until later. you could give it a try for a few days and maybe that would be enough to get her off this routine of pooping at 5 or 6.

I agree that just when you get used to a pooping schedule (or sleeping schedule for that matter), it changes. I say slather her bum before bed and wait it out.

I think you just need to change her diaper right after. If she goes back to bed, great. If not, she'll probably nap later.

I'll have to concur with others... put aquafor on her bottom before bedtime to protect the skin and wait it out. It seems to me the pooping schedule never stays the same.......

There is nothing you can do but wait for her schedule to change, however if she is in pain you could try using some aquaphor on her before she goes done to keep her from getting red.
