I thought I was selected to be the Co-President of the P.T.A at my 11 year old's School (School is grades 6-12) I was told on Friday that I am the Co-President of the P.A. Does anyone know the difference in the way we can Fundraise, etc... I appreciate the very many wonderful ideas and I definitely have my favorites. I Thank you wonderful women so much for sharing with me. I can only hope that I have helped a few of you in the past and will do so in the future... C.

What can I do next?

They have an online shpping fundraiser registry. You can email announcements and they send a check for 50% of the take as it were.

Co-president just means you and another person share the duties together. The two of you should get together and decide things together and split up what needs to be done. Basically the two of you work together and 4 hands are better than 2, especially if one of you can't make a meeting, function, etc. It really helps when both of you are working and have other commitments.
As for you daughter please tell her Dyslexia is not all that bad, I have it and back when I was her age they were just starting to admit it existed. Like me she will learn to get around how she does things and will be fine, but remember it doesn't mean you are slow, lazy, or stupid as I was told. I am now a nursing student and loving every minute of it. Someone once told me we all have some sort of learning disability and she is right. Some of us are not athletic or can't dance, some are poor in reading or math, some like me can't get U.S. and World History to sink in, etc. I see myself as an good mother and can multitask quite well. I also am an avid knitter, crocheter, cook and my dyslexia does not interfere with that at all. I hope this all helps.
Hugs,
T.

C.,

One thing my son's old school did every year is they would have different venders come in for an event and each vender would donate stuff for the raffle and they had games and food. I loved it and had so much fun with the kids and the school raised a good amount of money also. I wish you the best of luck.

C., I am not aware of any difference in fundraising. A PA is a Parents Association; a PTA is a Parent-Teacher association. All this means is that teachers are not involved in the organization. Teachers are actually not involved in a lot of PTAs/PTOs despite the fact that the "T" is still in the name. The lack of "T" simply means that teachers are not on your board or heading your committees, it's just the parents.
Good luck

My daughter's softball league just had a fundraiser. It was a car wash. Each girl was responsible for selling 5 tickets ahead of time at $5 apiece. Then the customers just showed up with their tix for the car wash. They also took customers who were driving by and saw the commotion. The kids stood at the roadside with signs. They made over $900. Not bad for 6 hours of work.
