Hello!
I have always had oily skin and have never used a moisturizer for that reason, and I dont know if its because Im pregnant, but my skin is just blah! I have noticed around my eyes looking dry and more wrinkly than usual. I think I should use some kind of moisturizer but afraid it will backfire on my oily skin. So my question, should I use one, and which one for oily skin?

What can I do next?

Molly,
Shaklee makes a great moisterizer for oily skin. My cousin used it and later forgot she ever had oily skin!

Check into the Mary Kay Timewise moisturizer for combo/oily skin. A lot of women with oily skin think that if they have oily skin they don't need a moist bc it will just make them more oily. In fact, not using a moist cold be drying out your skin causing it to produce more oil.

Love Clinique - $$$ but IMO worth it. Go to the counter - they will help you pick the right one for your skin type.

I've made my own facial lotion for more than 10 years. As a massage therapist, I have tried many skin care products and have yet to find something better than my own simple recipe. I go to Cheryl's Herbs in Maplewood to get her pure aloe gel and her jojoba oil. Then I use Young Living Essential Oils of Lavender, Helichrysum, and Melaleuca (tea tree). To an 8 oz. bottle of aloe, I use 3 drops each of the essential oils and about half a teaspoon of the jojoba.

The essential oils are wonderfully nurturing to the skin. The aloe is easily absorbed without any oily residue. And, jojoba, although called an oil, is actually a wax and, chemically, is the closest thing to your skins own sebum (what most call skin oil). I don't even use soap on my face. This is the only product I put on my facial skin. I used to have a number of facial skin problems, but no more.

However, I also eat organic foods, avoid sodas, coffee, wheat, never drunk alcohol, etc. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your skin has more to do with diet, sleep, and exercise.

You should always use moisturizer. Especially around your eyes, it will keep them from looking older before their time. I was just reading the 5 sneaky signs of aging on Yahoo the other day and was surprised to find that everything my skincare takes care of was mentioned on there. How exciting it was to see that they thought of everything. Oily or dry you should always wash and or use a toner and moisturize and put on an eye cream, and sometimes even a night cream. If you would like to Customize the skin care to your exact skin type I even have skin sensors and a few questions you can answer so you get exactly what you need to mix and match products to have your exact skin care. It brightens your skin so it no longer looks dull, it will shrink your pores, it will even out your skin tone, and it will leave your skin soft as a baby's butt... my husband even noticed a difference after just a few days. I've been using it since the 2nd week of January.
If you think you may be interested give me a call at ###-###-#### or check out my website www.beautipage.com/ldulaney I dont live far from you I can come see you and bring some skin sensors and get you all set up!!

Oil of Olay has an oil-free moisturizer, as does the Equate brand if you're pinching pennies. I have used both.

My niece recently began hitting the cosmetics safety website....cosmeticsdatabase.com She ended up dumping all of her makeup supplies (they ALL scored an 8-9 out of 10 on the safety hazard scale!), began researching safety issues & concerns, & then carefully began rebuilding her own supplies. Might be a good place to start!

Your hormones are the reason and yes it is probably due to being pregnant. Arbonne has an oil absorbing moisturizer. If you would like to try a sample let me know and I can get your info and give you mine.

I've heard great things about Clinique. They have a moisturizing gel. But like Allison O, Mary Kay has a good line too.

If it is just a matter of not having bright skin, I would suggest putting on plain yogurt on your face as a face mask. Another all natural remedy is swiping either an orange section or lemon slice across your skin and letting it sit there for no more than 3 minutes before rinsing it off. I have oily skin too and haven't had any success finding a moisturizer that that won't break out my skin. Even the oil-free ones (pricey and drugstore brands) have been a big waste of money.

I have the same skin type and also when I was pregnant with my first (22 years ago) I tried Mary Kay Formula 3 for oily skin moisturizer and have used it ever since. I love the way it makes my skin feel and even on days when I don't wear makeup, I wear it. I think it also helps control the oil. If you don't know of anyone who sells it, you can purchase it online.

I was told that parts of the face being oilier than the rest was natures way of trying to moisturize the dry parts. I don't know, but I do know one remedy for dry skin is to drink more water, this will help the baby too. Usually the prenatal vitamins help everything look better while you're pregnant, I've never had better nails!
