Don't forget to spray the car and car seats.
My daughter has just contacted lice at school...I've been using NIX on her for 3 weeks and washing the bed clothes and spraying the furniture and no matter how much we fight...i still find eggs. Any suggestions
Thanks for all of your advice. I think we've finally gotten rid of the little buggers. If not I will take all of the advice given. THANKS EVERYONE!

go to the feed store and get something call hog lice it works just don't get it in your eyes.
I have been having the same problem with my daughter too. I have been cleaning out her hair and still can't seem to get rid of them. I have done exactly like you, and washed everything. I was told by someone to put olive oil in her hair and that would make the eggs easier to come out. I tried that and have gotten some out, but the the next day or so I find a lice in her hair. I was also told to buy some special comb that is like metal and it will pull the eggs out as well. I haven't gotten it yet, but that is what I will go and purchase today and try and get more of those eggs out. I hope it works.
Hopefully one of those tips will help you out.

I have worked in the social services field for more years than I can say and if you have used NIX for three weeks, this is a job for your pediatrician. Even though this might be the first time your child has had lice and got it from school, it is very possible she contracted a strain that is resistant to NIX. I would definitely get my child's pediatrician involved and sometimes you might need to resort to cutting a child's hair.
Hope this helps.

I've heard that vaseline helps. It's supposed to suffocate the eggs. It's a little messy, but at least it's safe. Maybe that's something that you could research online.

YES! I didn't get lice until I was in high school and all of the pharmacists and everyone kept saying I didn't have it because it didn't look like traditional lice --they said I just had dry scalp or something--so it got so bad that my lymph nodes were swollen for months. Anyway after combing and combing and washing and them never going away (because we had let it get so bad) I went to a dermatologist ( who knew!) who prescribed me a shampoo medicine. It knocked it out! I then got it again a few months later when I moved into my dorm, who knows how, and I called him up and got the medicine again and it knocked it out! It smelled like dog shampoo but I'm telling you, it was the ONLY thing that worked for me... that was in 1998, btw
I haven't had this problem yet, but know someone who has had it SEVERAL times, and she says you need to wash ALL the linens in the home, as well as running all of the stuffed animals and things like that through the dryer.....
Good Luck!!

I would suggest going to the doctor. They can prescribe something stronger to knock it out - but follow the directions carefully. The stuff is very strong. Also, you need to buy one of those fine combs and literally take them out by hand. I know it sounds gross. Maybe you have already tried this? My daughter got it at school when she was younger. She has extremely thick hair. It was a nightmare. Good Luck.
