Nursing/thumbsucking

My daughter likes to pull my hair while she nurses or sucks her thumb. Most times it's just the back corner, but when she is more tired she pulls whatever she can reach. This has been going on for a while now, I'm not sure exactly how long, it just started gradually. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and if there were any suggestions on getting her to switch to a blankie? I have tried slinging a blanket over my shoulder and covering my hair, but it just makes her mad. So, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would just say they out grow it. I have 4 kids(3girls and 1boy) and all 4(including my son) do this. It could be more for babies of mother's with long hair I guess, but not sure. Just something comforting to them. My 4yr old has done this since she was born, as the rest of them, and sucks her thumb still. She also has an attachment to her snoopy blanket she's had since birth.
But it's just something they'll out grow or maybe not. My 6yr old hasn't played with hair for a long time. All of them started out playing with mine then moved on to their own. I'm 27 and still twirl my hair when I'm bored. I would honestly say it's a good indicator of how their mood is. If she's doing it when she's tired then when you see her doing it you'll know she's needing a nap or bedtime.
To me I don't think it's a big deal. But I'd say if you're more comfortable with her having a blanket, just give that to her when she starts getting ready to sleep or whatever she does with the hair. You could keep your hair pulled up so it's not there when she's eating. But if it's an attachment to the hair, she could easily start playing with her's instead.

you can try a nursing necklace :) my daughter likes to play with it on her own, when she's not eating and I'm not wearing it

its funny the habits little ones do while nursing. Both my girls had different things they did. My oldest would rub the back of my upper arm and my youngest, would pull my hair. Even if I pulled it all back she would find 1 or 2 little pieces to pluck! If I remember right, this didnt last that much longer than 11 months to a year. Sorry I dont really have any advice....just know you arent alone.

Maybe you could try one of the cute little tag blankies with the silky little tags sewn all around the edges.

Baby's are so funny with little habits! My son when nursing "holds" on to my breast. I don't know why. I've tried to get him to hold on to my finger, shirt a blanket, etc. It never works!
Maybe put your hair in ponytail where she can't get her hands on it!! Good Luck!
