I can't seem to remember with my first when I stopped leaking when nursing..Seems like whenever I nurse the other breast during let down is leaking way more than I with my first. I'm still having to buy nursing pads and I swore at this point (5mths) with my first I was fine and going without anything...Is this normal, at what point does the leaking stop or does it ever? This is one thing I absolutely forgot about and the cost of the pads are adding up and the cloth/washable ones are pointless since there sopping wet by the time I'm done nursing on one side..Any advice or reminders are really appreciated at this point...

What can I do next?

The amount of time that you leak can very from person to person and from baby to baby. I only leak for a couple of months but my friend was still nursing when her son was 18 months! You can use the butt of your hand to gently apply pressure to the breast that you are not nursing on and that should help slow down or stop the leaking. I loved the Lansinhol (sp?) Brand nursing pads because they are really thin and very absorbant! You can but them at Walmart or Target!

I think it was about 2 or 3 months before I stopped leaking. I think using the same breast first helped. I think they were confused and both starting going at it when I used to switch (Like they tell you to do). I always do my left one first so if I do my right one first (which is very very rare) I can feel the let down although I don't leak anymore. I don't get this feeling anymore if I stick with the left one first.

I don't remember how long it took, but it was definately longer with my 2nd child. He is 27 months now and I actually just recently completely stopped leaking. I wouldn't leak often but a few drops here and there, and he hasn't nursed in about 14 months!

Ya know, bounty napkins may work and be much cheaper than pads. They would soak through like the cloth, but when at home this would at least be cheaper and then use the more expensive stuff when on the go.

You must have a very abundant supply!

When I pump for an occasion, that throws my supply out of wack and I start leaking... if I nurse with no additional pumping, and no skipped feedings I'm fine. Could that be the case with you?

Also wear a bra or something that will support your other breast while feeding, and in between... with the pressure it should help control the leaking.
