My son is 5 weeks old and next monday is supposed to be my first day back. I am just not ready to return. I work in retail visiting different store locations, merchandising. I do a lot of lifting, moving, and driving long distances. I am having horrible back pain and also had a level 4 episiodomy when I delivered my son so I still have horrible pain from that. I hope to speak with my doctor regarding extending my disability so I am able to stay home a couple of more weeks before I am 100% ready to return to work. Any suggestions, experiences or advise with dealing with this issue is appreciated!

D.,

Interested in working from home? Have you heard of Scentsy "the Authentic Wickless Candles"? It's a safe alternative than candles. Scentsy is a decorative warmer that use a 25 watt bulb to melt the wax. It's not hot to the touch and you can leave them on all day and not worry about something burning. The company has been around for 3 years and is growing daily! The products sell themselve and nothing is over $25. If your intersted in becoming part of this great team please check my website out at www.scentsy.com/DFW and contact me at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com!!!

Sincerely,
C.

I just want you to know you're not alone. Every mom who works struggles with the inital return, even those who welcome it and feel well enough physically.

I am confident that your doctor will entertain your request given the circumstances but it sounds like your company is large enough for you to take advantage of the FMLA if he doesn't. It can be tough to take off the full 12 weeks without pay but at least you'll have the extra time you need to heal.

Congratulations! Best wishes for a quick recovery! This time flies, try to enjoy your baby as much as possible and sleep whenever you can!

Hi D.!

First I would suggest that you find out if your company has a Family and Medical Leave Policy (FMLA) and if you are qualified under it (there are state/Federal guidelines as far as how long you've been with the company, how many employees for a company to have to provide FMLA etc). FMLA will not "pay" you but it may protect your job. Typically companies will require you to use sick or vacation time or go unpaid if needed. It all depends on the company. My company does need to follow FMLA guidelines based on State/Federal law and for the birth or adoption of a child I am entitled to 12 weeks of protected leave. I use my sick until I am released to return to work and then vacation for the remainder of the time out. You can also check with the Department of Labor also.

Good luck and congratulations on the baby boy!

You should be able to extend under the family medical leave act, and enjoy a few more weeks at home! In the end. I couldnt bring myself to go back - but I was fortunate to be able to stay at home. It was challenging from a financial standpoint for a few months - but I am now working from home a few days a week while a babysitter helps out. I am part of a coalition of stay at home moms- Moms at Home Making a Difference. We work four ourselves in network marketing- I too was in retail for many years, then the garment industry after that. But I love being able to work from home now! I am growing my business now - and if you ever feel like it is something you might be interested in please email me! Hi D.~

Congratulations on being a new mommy! Isn't it wonderful? I also couldn't bring myself to return back to work and had a C Section, so I needed recovery time too! After months of just not working and getting further into debt, I recently began working from home myself and I LOVE it! There's tons of training and support, from other moms, like me who wanted a way to stay home with their little ones. I can create my own hours and determine which days I want to work. There's no selling, no parties, no inventory to stock, and NO risk! Let me know if you're interested in more information. Thanks!
