Non-Disposable Good Nites

Twin A, most of the time, sleeps through the night in his regular underwear dry. However, Twin B is not even close to going through the night so he is in a pull-up. The problem is Twin B wants to wear big kid underwear like his brother. They share a room and we are not in a position to split them, so they know what each other is wearing. I was thinking about getting the Non-Disposable Good Nites that look like underwear and have a disposable liner. Here are my two problems, one they start at 38 lbs, and my boys are 33 and 35 lbs. Has anyone used these are smaller children and do they work, or are they too big and they will leak everywhere? Second, Twin B still goes more than once a night. How much do the disposable liners hold?

What can I do next?

even if a child is at the starting weight for a diaper it can still leak. it all depends on the style of the diaper and how it fits the child. i f i were you i would go with the goodnights ones and try it out for a night or two to see if it will work like you want to. my guess is if a disposable can handle it then a washable one with a disposeble liner should hold just as well. but i would also have a waterproof mattress pad on the mattress and a change of sheats and pj's ready for a quick change if needed for a leak in the night.

We used them and they weren't as good as the overnight pulls up. Not horrible but we quickly went back to the overnight pull ups. Our girl didn't stay dry at night until this past year and our boy started some medication this year to help him but he still has an occasional accident. I keep waterproof mattress pads on the beds, all of them, and then the sheets. I don't like having to pull the sheets every day but now that he's on meds it's not as often.

I think you have to explain to the kids that they are different and just because one gets to do something that doesn't mean that they both get to do it.

why not just put underwear over the night time diapers?

Seems like it would be easier, and less explanation than 'liners'.

I would also invest in some waterproof sheets/ pads...even disposable ones!

Best luck!

The GoodNights underwear fit my 47 pound 7.5 yo boy comfortably. The GoodNight inserts fit perfectly into the underwear and hold a lot of liquid. He has def. gone more than once a night at times and never leaked.

Hope that helps!

I have the medium sized ones that one of my sons used occasionally. I have used them for my younger son who was just under 40 pounds when I've run out of nighttime pull-ups. The few occasions I've used them for him they haven't leaked even though they were too big.

Do you know of anyone who sews? There are patterns for trainers that look like big boy pants that could be made for him in his size. These can be made to be more absorbent and hold more liquid so that he would not leak and look like a "stuffed sausage" because of the layers.

It's another thought for you.

Even though they are twins - they are still individuals - and they'll each develop at their own rate.
Although there will be similarities - there will also be some differences.
It seems like staying dry through the night is just going to be one of those differences.
First off - make sure there is no shame involved for the one who's not dry through the night yet.
He'll get there eventually in his own time and he should know that so tell him.
Until then - I would not bend over backwards in getting him any special pull ups that don't look like pull ups.

Our son isn't a twin but he was 7 1/2 before he could stay dry through the night.
Some kids are 12 or 13 or older before they can manage it.
You and he just need to be patient.
