I guess it is all a matter of personal preference. I HATE SNAPS. To me, it takes so much longer than to just slip the pants on and off!
This is part vent, part question. Yesterday I was perusing Target looking for new jeans, overalls and general cuteness for my son. As I started looking at the 12 mo sizes, none of them had snaps! Given that my son won't be potty trained for a significant amount of time- I can't figure out why they don't have snaps. I also feel horrible sending him to daycare in clothes that aren't easy on and off.
Questions:
Anyone know the thought process behind now not including snaps?
Anyone recommend brands that still do snaps on pants at the 12 mo mark?
Wow- thanks for the feedback moms- and especially the mom with daycare experience! As my son turned 8 months today, I have been noticing just how much more squirmy he is. Thanks for the more long sighted opinions!

I do home daycare, so I change alot of pants! I hate snaps. I prefer the slip on little pants for my little ladies and fellas. One of my little guys (8 mos old) has almost never worn pants with snaps, preferring to wear (mostly Target actually..as his mom works for Target corp..and gets that nice discount!)....he wears the cute onsies with long sleeves, and matching bottoms that slip on and have like a frog or a monkey on the booty!
Jeans even to me are so so so much easier to just pull up and down, rather than fight with snaps. Unless its an all in one piece (not pants and a top)...I personally would rather not have snaps..and for manufacturers, I assume cheaper and quicker to mass produce. Easier for me when "mass" diaper changing several kids in a row.
Carter's has many cute outfits with snaps. Love their little boy line.
I have 2 or 3 pairs of overalls ...baby gap and levis. I'll be more then happy to send them to you! They have snaps too!
Pulling on and off pants is much easier, and faster, then snapping a zillion snaps.
I second the Carter's brand. Also, I bought some jon-jon's for my son and short all outfits that all had snaps or buttons from Kelly's Kids, Oriental Expressed and the Petite Ferre brand that were so cozy and cute:)
Ugh. I'm with everyone that hates snaps. When my DD is in snap pants, I let her run around with the snaps undone unless we are going somewhere. lol. Or I just treat them like regular pants. :P
I second Leslie's answer! Once my son got wiggly on the changing table, snaps became a pain and I actively avoided putting him in those clothes.
I also had to get over my need to have him "dressed up" for daycare each day. They run around like crazy people all day long, so in the winter he's in sweat pants and a long-sleeved t-shirt. In the summer, it's pull-on shorts and a t-shirt. We save the "cuteness" clothing for weekends and events!
I have 12 mo Osh Kosh overalls that snap.
Actually I'm not a fan of the snaps anymore, but we have pants by BabyGap that have them in 18 month pants. The snaps ad more bulk to the pant leg, and I think it actually takes longer to do all those snaps than to just whip off and back up regular pants with an elastic wasteband. And the older your child gets, the more he turns into an octopus. I wouldn not say that Target is the best place for baby clothes either. We have the best luck at Once Upon A Child resale shop.
I think my daughter had some Oshkosh overalls that had snaps in the 24 mo. range. Our daycare never had a problem with non-snapped pants. Yours may prefer them, but I tried not to send DD in clothes with a lot of snaps because it took longer per kid if every kid had a bunch of snaps. Elastic waistband was easier.
I don't know why they don't have snaps, but it never bothered me. I don't find it any harder to pull pants down to ankles and change a diaper than I do unsnapping them all and snapping them back...actually, I find pulling the pants down easier! I also worked at a preschool, and it didn't matter to me one bit.
I have gotten pants and overall at Gymboree before with snaps, over 12 months, but honestly, wish that I didnt.
My son, as he got bigger, was SO wiggly, it was a pain to try to snap all of those snaps. Much easier to just pull them on and off. Also, as he got to be @ 18 months, he got so he could yank the snaps apart, and then would be running around in something that looked like a denim prairie skirt. I would have to pin him down, snap him up, and then wait for him to do it again.
As they get bigger, I think no snaps is easier.
Hate the snaps for the most part especially on jeans because you just can't push them up far enough to get out of the way. But that said you can still find them at Children's Place in their newborn category (up to 12 months).
