Just keep offering him the cup. My son did the same thing when I quit bf'ing at 18 months. He didn't drink much milk at all for about 6 months. Just a sip here and there. IT"S OKAY! Just make sure to offer him a well-balanced diet and this won't be an issue.

And be sure to offer him a cup of water throughout the day as well. We always had a fresh sippy of water sitting around so the kids could take a drink whenever.

Just keep trying. Some kids aren't big on milk (my son isn't). He really doesn't need a whole lot, and if he eats cheese as well, that counts. Try yogurt, too. My kids love yogurt (especially the go-gurt or trix, but I hate the extra sugar and usually give them regular yoplait or store brand, and they are good with it - just not the kind with chunks of fruit, lol).
Only give him milk, or anything besides water, at the table. Try a cup that isn't a sippy- just a regular cup, and only put a very little bit in it.
16 ounces a day should be enough, especially if he is eating other dairy too. And this counts what is in his cereal. Little bits throughout the day will add up.

I would try the nuk sippy you can get at Walmart. They have a soft spout almost like a bottle, maybe the texture will help him. Until then, make sure he's getting cheese or yogurt or some other dairy product with calcium to make up for the lack of milk.

I take 1 Danimals (small childrens yogurt drink) and pour that into a sippy cup and then fill the rest with whole milk. He loves it and it's much better than any syrups. Everyday he asks for a yoggie milk! Studies show that kids that have a yogurt a day are healthier and able to fight off sickness easier and faster. I also still give him a bottle when he wakes up and one at night of Enfamil Enfagrow toddler. He's somewhat of a picky eater so I want to make sure he's getting all his vitamins and minerals. He's super healthy and happy!

When I took my son off the bottle, he was like that for a few days. I kept an eye on his diapers, just in case, but I just kept offering the sippy cup. It wasn't long before he forgot about the bottle and learned to love his sippy. If he gets thirsty, he'll drink.

I was worried too that my 17 mos old wasn't ready to wean off the bottle. He'll drink from a cup during the day but when it comes to nap time or bedtime, he likes his bottle because it is soothing. Especially since he's still teething. I looked this up and found that it is perfectly fine that a baby still wants his/her bottle well into their two's. If he's not ready it's ok. Give him his bottle of milk and during the day give him his 'cup' of milk. Transition may be slow (like with my little guy), but it will happen. :-)

Once my daughter stopped her milk bottle she never drank milk again. She will have it in some cereal only. She is three and half. They don't need as much milk as you think. There is no point to sugaring up milk either. Try to get him to eat some more cheese or maybe yogurt. i will make my daughter yogurt and fruit smoothies too. Don't worry about it too much. I can tell you my daughter is perfectly healthy without all that dairy. Ask your doc if you are uncomfortable though.
