Hi moms,

I am doing some research to find out about the Nintendo gaming sysstem, and the games being offered. I have two questions, one for you as a parent, and one for your child.

1. As a parent, why did you choose to purchase the Nintendo DS above other gaming systems? For me it was because of the offering of more educational type games.

2. What is your child's favorite game and why? My son loves Club Penguin right now, and I do too. The missions are interesting and aactually require some serious thought.

All answers are appreciated and thank you.

What can I do next?

Hi T. -
My children are 9, 11 & 12 so they like different games I guess. We play scrabble, Nancy Drew, Animal Crossing, Clubhouse Games, things of that nature. We have 2 DS's the first one my sister game me as a Christmas gift, the second one I bought used (great condition) at our local GameStop.
My sister and 2 neices have them too and we all play against each other at night when there are only re-runs on TV! Used games are as little as $10.00 and that is right on my budget.

My kids love different games at different times. They get tired of them and play others, then pull out the "old" ones again later on. They have gone between Indiana Jones Lego, Star Wars Lego, Pirates of the Caribbean, and any/all of the Mario games. They don't tend to care for the "educational" ones like Brain Age or any of the memory stuff...

Yoshi's Island was always a favorite of theirs, until my daughter lost it about a year ago. They also enjoy the New Zealand game. Daughter doesn't know it yet, but she is getting the one that teaches Spanish for Christmas... (she told me she wanted Rosetta stone so she could finish learning Spanish, too much $$ -- she is 8 yrs old). lol

I chose Nintendo DS b/c they seem durable, were priced better than PSPs, and had plenty of accessories available to pack/protect and carry them. Plus, since we were buying 2 eventually (2 kids) pricing mattered. Don't know about PSPs, but with the nintendo, they can download-play against each other (each on their own handheld- they are wirelessly linked). Also, the charges seem to last a good long time.

Hope this helps.

To be honest, I am wondering why with your education and backround, why you would be allowing your son to even be involved with video games? They are doing irreparable harm to his learning ability in the classroom. Research it.
