If you press and hold the button it will stay on continuously. I just found this but we don't have one.
I'm in search of a nightlight for my 2 year old's room. We currently have a Cloud B constellation turtle that my son loves but the problem is that it turns off after 45 minutes. I"m looking for something like the Cloud B products that stay on all night. I don't want anything that plugs into a wall outlet. I'd like it to be battery powered and something that I could sit on a shelf or on his dresser or even the floor. Anyone have any suggestions?

Anything battery operated is going to go through a ton of batteries! We bought a led plug in night light when my daughter was 2 and she still has the same light 2 years later. It doesn't get hot at all.
You're gonna spend way too much on batteries going that route! I couldn't find anything for my daughters room because I couldn't have a wall nightlight since our outlets are in the baseboards (we have a really old house) and when I couldn't find anything that would work, I took a small table lamp I had (it has a glass lampshade with beads... real cute) and used a nightlight bulb that has the bigger screw in base (so it's not one of the 'nightlight' replacement bulbs, its like a full size bulb but smaller with like a 5w wattage or something like that). It worked out really good. It's a little brighter than a traditional nightlight but at least I can see her when she's sleeping and she's not in the dark. My son has a Noah's ark light that isn't as bright and I was hoping to find something like his but it was a shower gift and I have no idea where it was purchased. Try getting the bulb I suggested, try it in a small lamp and see if you like it.
I got my daughter a Discovery Kids Animated Marine Lamp for her room and she loves it. It sits on her dresser and lights up her room a fair amount but it's still dark enough in there to encourage sleeping. I just got it for her a week ago and she's no longer talking about being afraid of the dark, needing the door open, wanting me to stay with her, etc. Instead, she can't wait for it to be lights-out time so she can see it turned on! It does plug into the wall but if you go with something battery operated and want it on all night, you are going to go through a lot of batteries. Check out the link below, there are some other similar products listed as well:

My daughter received a nightlight from IKEA called SPOKA. It's shaped like a little egg with ears and eyes and it is really cute! You plug it in and charge it for a few hours and it lasts all night. It glows in colors of blue, green and purple. I couldn't find it on the IKEA website but did find it on amazon.com. My daughter just loves it!
not sure which constellation turtle you have, but if it's like ours, it's super easy to turn back on. my son slept with his for quite awhile, when it turned off, he'd turn it back on. teach your son how to work the switch. if he's wanting light, he'll learn quickly.
battery powered lava lamp, that's what our 6 yr old uses.
I have the problem that if it didn't go off after 45 minutes and he woke up he'd think it was playtime! What about a Gloworm? It will light up when he hugs it so may save on batteries.

There are wonderful glow in the dark stars and planets that you can put on his wall and ceilings. They are pretty inexpensive and it looks like they are outside under a canopy of stars. Get him a toy flashlight to boot. They even make ones that turn off after a coulple of hours if I am not mistaken. And remember glow worms? Every time he hugs that it lights up. Very comforting!
We used to use a battery powered snowman that Hallmark released one year. It was pretty neat - LED lights inside a snowglobe (snowman's belly) which changed colour and swirled the glitter around. We went through a set of batteries a night. Luckily we bought the re-chargable batteries but it was not good if we forgot to recharge them one night!
We have also used a small lamp that you can touch on or off but it was too bright for for our toddler to sleep.
So now we just tell him to turn on his seahorse that plays music and the belly lights up.
Good luck, it's hard to find the perfect nightlight!
