My son is 16 wks and has been sleeping 10-12 hrs every night. I am worried though that he is not getting enough to eat. Not sure if he wakes up at all during the night cuz he doesent fuss to much. He is a finger sucker. I will check in on him and he will be sucking on fingers but not awake. He only weighs 11 pounds 3oz. He started out at 7lbs 9oz. Should I be waking him up to eat during the night or count my blesings that he sleeps so well? ( he is bf and gets 4-6 oz pumped bm in each of 2-3 feedings while i am at work depending on when i go in and he gets up and i will nurse 2-4 times before he goes down depending on when i get home from work

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thanks for the feedback. It put my mind at ease. He is small for his age but growing perportionately :) Now our only problem is getting him to fall asleep (once he is out he still sleeps forever lol) but he is teething and nothing seems to keep him from screaming at night

Count your blessings! I have never had a baby that has slept well during the night and being sleep deprived is not fun.

With that said, is he gaining weight? As long as he is gaining weight and getting the proper amount of nutrition during the day, he should be fine. But, this is really something to check with your pediatrician because they can tell you how he is growing.

Good luck!

Let a sleeping baby sleep! If he was hungry, he would let you know! Enjoy your restful nights! :)

Never wake a sleeping baby! At 4 months old he, assuming nothing medically is wrong that you know of, enjoy the peace. He'd wake if hungry. One of my kids slept 12 hours at 3 months and is a happy, healthy, growing 5 year old now. Enjoy!

Be thankful he is a sleeper. Babies know when they are hungry. I would not wake him. It sounds like he is gaining weight just fine. My son had the same sleep pattern as your child seems too. It was great since he was the first child. I also breastfed. Baby #2 is now 2.5 years old and still wakes up at least once per night. When she was a baby, she was a snacker instead instead of getting a full meal before bedtime. Now I think she is going through nightmares. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that it is a blessing your son is sleeping and since he is gaining weight, I wouldn't worry about it.
