What age were your children when they potty-trained at night? How long after being day-time trained did you attack night-time???

What can I do next?

I did not wait - I did it all at the same time and I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because neither of my daughters ever had an "accident" at night. Both of them potty trained at around 33 months. My first took about 5 days and the second more like 5 weeks! Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much, but I just wanted to tackle it all together and do away with diapers all together instead of going through the stress of one and then the other. Best of luck to you!

It's important to know that it is perfectly normal for kids to continue to wet at night until age 6. You can try things to help along the way such as urinating before bed and also taking them to the bathroom again right before you go to bed later in the night. Bottom line is their bodies have to be ready. If at age 6 they still wet at night, you'll want to discuss it with their doctor.

My boys were potty trained around age 2 1/2. My daughter was closer to 3 1/2. However, all my kids are extremely heavy sleepers, so they did not have nighttime dryness until they were at least 8 years old. We tried limiting fluids in the evening, using underwear instead of pull-ups, and an alarm to detect wetness. They were just not ready. We also made sure there was no medical reason for the late nighttime training. We were told by the pediatric urologist that some kids just need to grow into their bladders. Sure, it was frusterating at times for both my husband and I as well as the kids. Eventually, they began to be drier and drier at night and would wake if they needed to go. I'm sure most kids will start to be dry at night within months of being day trained to use the potty. However, some kids will need more time for the night dryness.

We just in the last three weeks got our daughter who will be 5 in may nighttime trained. She has been daytime trained since she was 2.5. We could tell she just wasn't physically ready at night and then she just sorta did it on her own the last few weeks.

My son will be 5 in April and has been potty since he was 3. He just started waking up dry the past week.We would just make him go potty before bed and limit drinks close to bed time. This just happened naturally.

I also have a 12 year old son. He would still have accidents up until he was about 8.

Good Luck!

My son was potty trained at around 3 and I always put a Pull Up on him at night. After a month or so, the pullups were dry in the morning and O. night he told me he wanted underwear, so I put them on him & expected some wet sheets, but HE knew he was ready, he never looked back! I would say by 3-1/2 he was night trained but ALL kids are different and some just can't hold it that long, and some sleep really soundly so they don't wake up to pee. My son still (age 7) never or very rarely gets up through the night to pee.

Let me just share this with you, I remember stressing out over the potty training and my pedriatitian reminded my that no child graduates from high school without being potty trained. So my advice to you, there is no specific time just use your gut feeling with as to when your child should be ready for potty training day or night

I think you just have to wait for it to happen when they are ready. In my opinion, you can't actually "train" them for this. Good luck!

Let me start by saying I have 2 boys and boys are different than girls I hear. My oldest was potty trained at 3, but wasn't so good at night so I didn't push it. At 5 he said he was done and he did great - 1 or 2 accidents.

My youngest was 2 when he said he was done with the whole diaper thing and even refused to wear one at night and maybe had 4 or 5 accidents.

I say it is up to them to tell you, but at the same time it is up to us to prepare them. I limit the fluid intake after 6:30. Even at dinner (at 6:30) I only give them a small drink and then if they want more I give them a tiny bit at a time. I inforce the bathroom and washing of the hands before dinner, the bathroom again before shower (immediately following dinner), and the obvious bathroom trip before bed time (at 8:00). It wasn't until they had both done so good for so long that allowed them to have a sip of water just before bed time.

Honestly - any kid can do it, but it is really up to us to set the stage for success!

My son potty trained during christmas time - he was 2 yrs and 9 mos old.I used the trick about Santa not wanting him to be using a diaper anymore bec he is a big boy now.And by Christmas he is already potty trained and recieved presents from santa(thats just about a week or two).I told him when he turn 3 Santa does not like him to wear diapers anymore. And he doesnt wear diaper at night anymore 3 mos later when he turn 3.

As soon as he is consistent with day time training I immediately discontinued his diaper at night. He had 1 or 2 accident - he did not like the feeling of his bed being wet and he never had accident after that.

Just be consistent about taking him to the bathroom every 3 hrs even he doesnt want to go weewee or poopoo(daytime).I got him the stepladder toilet that you place on top of our regular toilet(Did not use those fancy little toilet). So it wont be hard for me to transition or changing his routine.

Make sure you pick up together an underwear he likes to wear and explain to him bec he is a big boy now he has to wear undies just like daddy .Reward his good behavior with a treats he likes daily.
Hope this is helpful for you.

My son was 25 months when he mastered daytime & 5 weeks later night time... but he was young. Boys tend to be slower. He was just motivated!

My son with autism was night-potty trained at age 6, while my daughter was night-potty trained at age 9. I believe it depends on the child and how deep they sleep. My daughter sleeps like a rock, and wore a night diaper until she was 9 and still has accidents once-in-a-while.

I never actually made an effort to tackle night time. I just had my kids go right before bed, if they woke up during the night, and first thing in the morning. Eventually they all just made it through on their own. When they were completely potty trained they were 2 1/2, 3, 3 (with occasional bed wetting until 4), and 1 1/2. I have known children that still had accidents until they were 5, 10 or 12. It's mostly a matter of their bladder muscles needing to be strong enough and being able to wake up when there is the cue to pee and those seem to be things you just have to wait for.
