HI C.,
Congratulations!! I have been having dizziness too (9 wks pg!) - was told it was probably due to low fluid intake.
(I don't know about you but water feels totally gross to me right now!).
Good Luck, feel better soon!

Hello,
I'm new here, I'm 12 weeks pg and very excited. My husband and I went through fertility to get here, but it was well worth it.
The nausea and severe fatigue are finally settling down. But I have been having the weirdest dizzy spells. I don't think it's low blood sugar or low blood pressure, I keep both pretty stable. One of my husband's friends mentioned that she had that too, she was told that her uterus was expanding and the blood flow was more to there rather then the head.
Anyone else ever heard that?

I also experienced dizziness during pregnancy for a few weeks. My teaching assistant started keeping her eye on me and coming to my rescue with a chair as soon as I started to sway and grab for the air. Soon after I developed severe anemia, so monitor your iron. (I don't know if the dizziness had anything to do with low iron, but I had both).
It is very normal! Buy the book What to Expect When you Expecting. It has tons of info & will answer all these types of questions. But I would still mention it to your OB to rule out high/low blood pressure first but I know you are just fine! Some women get it some don't some get it with one pregnancy but not another. Congratulations and Best Wishes!!!
Hi C.,
I got very dizzy too in my first trimesters. It always seemed to happen while I was in the shower. I'd end up having to sit on the tub floor until it passed. My ob said it was normal, but definitely run it by your ob just to be safe! Good luck and congrats!!
Hi C.,
Yes, I have heard what your friend mentioned. I had only a slight experience with this as I, too, had to keep tabs on my blood sugar, and I would only occasionally get a bit dizzy. My OB and dietician first encouraged me to make certain my sugar was stable--which it was, and then know that there was an increased blood flow to the uterus. They told me to lie down so that the blood didn't have to work against gravity in order to get back up to my head.
Ultimately, I would check with your OB to rule out anything else, and to diagnose this. Better safe. And, congrats on your miracle!!
It could be anemia. Make sure you're getting enough iron, and regular hemoglobin checks.
I had dizzy spells with my first whenever I had to wait-- waiting for the bus, in line at the grocery store. I was fine when I was active and occupied.
Hi C.,
I also have been experiencing the same thing with both my first pregnancy and this one now. I have actually even blacked out a couple of times. My doctor said that this is completely mormal because your body is going through too many changes at once. Your shape, hormones, vitamin levels, and temperature differences can change the way you feel and can bring on dizziness at any time. A lot of people feel extra dizzy or faint when you first get up from sitting or laying down for a while. Others always feel it in the shower because of the temperature change on your body and the steam. The only suggestion my doctor gave me was to take your time moving when changing positions, take somewhat cooler showers, and make sure to drink plenty of water and take your vitamins with an extra easy to digest iron pill to keep you from getting anemic.
Good luck and take care of yourself!
Hi C.,
It's been 13 years since I've been pregnant but I do remember your symptoms clearly. Check with you doctor regarding vertigo and keep a watch on your thyroid....eventually I was diagnosed with both.
Good luck,
~K.
I am 25 years old and 25 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am borderline anemic and get dizzy spells, they were the most intense in weeks 15-22. They are worst indoors, especially in malls and stores (not enough oxygen). If it is just anemia then nothing to really worry about, you just might need an extra iron supplement. Just a few nights ago the weirdest thing happened while I was sleeping, I woke up because I was feeling dizzy, despite that I wasn't on my back, that never happened before. Anyway, always carry water with you (it quickly replenishes your oxygen supply) and sit down when you feel dizzy (even if it on the floor of a department store!).
I had it too, it passed. I had to hold something when standing up from another position. It doesn't last long if it is like mine was. Maybe a month. It only happened to me when I changed position.
Congratulations, and good luck!

I also had issues with dizziness while I was pregnant. I had to lie down a lot. My OBs (I moved mid-pregnancy) said it was normal. But, as others have written here, check in with your OB or midwife just to be sure. All the best to you!
Hi...congratulations! I was also very dizzy when I was pregnant, but that was due to hyperemesis gravidarum and other complications. Sometimes, if you've been vomiting a lot, your electrolyte balance is off. That could be one reason...good luck!
