New to Area (Out of Stater)

#4: Check out the Metroparks. Indian Springs is very close to White Lake and Kensington is about 1/2 hour away. A Metro park pass is $20 for the year. (Which means 4 or 5 trips to the park and you have it paid off.) There are TONS of activities going on; some are free and some cost an additional fee.

For activities and getting out of the house, I can recommend a great moms group/playgroup for you: Lakes Area Moms. This is my group. I started it nearly a year ago because I couldn't find one in my area. We currently have over 60 moms from towns all over the Lakes Area (West Bloomfield, Novi, Walled Lake, Commerce Twp, Wolverine Lake, Wixom, Lyon Twp, Milford, White Lake, Highland, Waterford, etc). There are many activities to choose from each month, with at least (but usually more than) one activity each week. We have playdates at member homes, library play rooms, children's venues like Jungle Java, Chuck E Cheese, Inflatable Planet, etc), parks, etc. We also have MNOs (mom's night out), craft nights, a book club, and more.

A lot of fun free mom stuff to do with the kids. And a great way to meet nice ladies for you to have some adult chat too!

I am in south Milford.

There is a consignment shop in Milford. It's on Milford Rd. south of M-59. From M-59, it is maybe three miles south? There is a curve with a traffic light. Hector & Jimmy's is on the east side and Kroger is on the west side. It will be just past Kroger and across the street (same side as Jimmy & Hector's). If you get to the railroad tracks, you went too far.

Where are you from, originally? The YMCA is also in Milford, and you should receive the Huron Valley Community Education booklet with many summer opportunities. There is also Kensington Metro park nearby with a petting farm and bike trails, and a local canoe rental. Also, many parks in the area.

There is a huge (30+ sellers) Mom2Mom sale at Orchard Grove Community Church in Walled Lake next weekend (March 15 9a-12p). It is off Maple Rd between Ladd & Pontiac Tr (the actual address is 850 Ladd Rd, Bldg C) or look at the website for directions www.orchardgrove.org The sale is being run "department store style" so all clothing will be hung by size and everything else organized by category! Also, the libraries in the area have some good free story times (White Lake & Milford in particular). Kensingon Metro park also has tons for the kids & is well worth buying the yearly pass - farm, swimming, waterpark, playgrounds, nature center, trails, boating, etc.
