I am new to Il. moved here from out of state. I have made some friends/neighbors but everyone seems to be very busy with their own friends and families. I have 2 daughters a 3 yr old and a 9 month old. We have no family nearby. I stay home with them and love outings to the zoo, parks, pools, or just going for walks. We live in Lake in The Hills and belong to LifeTime and Stingray Bay. If there is anyone who is new in town please give me an e-mail so we can get together.

Welcome to Illinois. I moved here from KS about 14 yrs ago (college)and never went back home....now my family is down in Dallas!
I belong to the Cary Moms Group and we have members from all over the McHenry area (a lot in LITH, Algonquin, Crystal Lake & Cary) the site is www.carymomsgroup.com and you can try it out for I think 30 days before you join...the fee is 10 for the year. There are playgroups broken down by age, large events, park dates, moms night out,kid free nights....you can do as much or as little as you want.
They also have other sub-groups...working moms, bf support,others I can't think of right now!
We change the park dates up and this month we have two in LITH one at Miller and Randall and the other is down Miller at I think Sunset Park....
Check the group out, it is a nice group of ladies and a large age range of children.

That moms group sounds like fun for you. If that doesn't work out for some reason, I found a Wauconda Moms meetup (too far, probably) through www.meetup.com. There is any kind of group you could ever imagine joining...in your area too!

I am in a great moms group in the area called Mom-2-Mom. Each month we offer planned kids activities & parties, as well as mom only events like bunco, book club, scrapbooking and moms night out. I am also fairly new to the area. We moved here about a year ago from Kentucky. Our family is all in Atlanta. I live in Huntley and I'm also a member at Lifetime Fitness. I have made a few friends, but I know exactly what you mean about other people being busy with their family and the friends they already have. That was my experience when I first moved from Atlanta to kentucky, but have found it less true here, I think mainly because this area is full of transplants from other places, especially the city. I always believe that no one can have too many friends. I have a 9 yo stepson and my first baby is due in February. Feel free to send me a message. Maybe we can get together and work out or go to the pool. I also suggest that you join HuntleyNeighbors.com. I have made a lot of friends there and we have bunco once a month. There is also a pretty large active group for Crystal Lake on meetup.com....lots of LITH'ers in it as well.

Welcome to the area N.. I understand how you feel and wish my kids were close to your age-mine are almost 20, 7 and 5. Imoved here when I was pregnant with my 7 year old and went from working full time to staying at home. I then joined an awesome website- matchingmoms.org and met some great people and started my own play group which was going until this summer. I also joined mothers and more. they have a lot of great events and I think you would really like it. I wish I had joined it sooner! I also just joined Cary Newcomers group.
