My husband and I are renting, and have had a few different neighbors the last few years. Our new neighbors are young couple, in there early 20's, and are so sweet. At christmas the wife brought over a huge plate of cookies that were still warm and sooooooooooo good!!! We just got back home from the holidays and started back to work/school on monday, so I havent returned the favor yet. Now I am wondering what is something nice and easy that I could do for them. I already have a thank you card, but I am looking for creative ideas for a baked good, or really anything that seems appropiate for people you dont know there likes and dislikes, allergies etc etc. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I would say you should just have them over for dinner or just dessert one night. I'm just one of those people that hates getting into the got something/give something mode. I think nice quality time with people is a welcome exchange. It's great to get out of the norm one evening and meet someone new.

So, pick one of your favorite home cooked meals to prepare, or just bake a cake and have a great evening!

What about movie tickets to a nearby theater?

I had the same situation with my neighbors across the street.... I've never really talked to them all that much - after I had my daughter and I'd see them outside, they'd ask how she was doing and all that, but never really anything big. Right before Christmas, she brought me a gift for my daughter - a really cute outfit. I didn't know what to do to reciprocate, so I went to Target and got a nice little box of candy (taffies), a Christmas ornament, and one of those Glade Scented Oil Candles. She said she loved it. :) Good luck!

By the way, I think that it's really great that you're wanting to be "neighborly." So many people forget about it.
