Needing a Hot Turkey!

Hi!
Last Christmas with 40 guests on their way, my oven broke. We still do not have an oven and will not be able to get one any time soon, but I am hosting Thanksgiving. See the problem? Does anyone know where I can pickup a HOT turkey? Jewel gives you a cold turkey that you heat up at home. (can't do that)
I don't need all the side dishes and extras, just the turkey.
Thanks.
*Is anyone looking to get rid of a slightly used oven in good condition?

www.freecycle.org it is a website where people post what they don't need or what they may be looking for. Perhaps someone has an oven they don't need

I think that you can get hot turkey from Boston Market. If you decide you do want to get all the extras, they have those too.

Maybe Boston Market? Or have someone else bring the Turkey and you do the sides. Last Ditch effort: Have Turkey Breast Cold Cuts and let everyone make sandwhiches!

whole foods might offer a hot turkey. i think some of the more high end take out counter places, like charlie trotters and fox and obel do, too. i know trotters does, for sure.
if you have a grill, i know you can cook a turkey that way, too. don't know how tricky it is, though.
good luck.

Wow- what a problem!! I guess that having Thanksgiving at another relative's house is out, right? If so, my next thought would be :neighbors.

If you have a nice neighbor you are friendly with, throw yourself on their mercy and just ask if you can use their oven!! A lot of people will not be home for Thanksgiving and especially if you are friendly with each other and have collected mail or watered plants on vacation, etc. in the past, I bet they would let you cook your turkey in their oven!! You could make a nice pie or extra gift for them as well.

That way you get your homemade turkey Thansgiving- you just have to grab some potholders and go up the street to get it!!

If you have a grill you could grill it or if someone has a turkey fryer that would work too. I would check craigslist for a oven or some of those swap sights where people are giving stuff away!

This my not help too much for around here, but you can check with other restaurants. My husband used to work for a cajun restaurant in MD and they sold TONS of fried cajun turkeys. We'd all go to the restaurant and wait for the crew to finish handing them out (it was a pre-order system) and then go home and celebrate our Thanksgiving. I'm sure there are plenty of restaurants around here that'll do something similar. A lot of times it just takes asking or going there in November to see the in house ads. Good Luck!

I agree. Cooking your turkey in a roaster. You can pick up roasters relatively cheap or even borrow one if you know someone who has one. The bird comes out great!

Or depending on where you live there are always restuarants who do turkeys for thanksgiving. Like Hecky's in Evantson.

If you asked. I bet your local Jewel would warm the turkey for you. Even if you buy it cold, you could warm it in the roaster if you didn't want to cook it in a roaster.

My mom usually saves the oven for all her side dishes and cooks the turkey in a electric roaster that sits on the counter. It always tastes the same as if cooked in the oven-the skin actually seems a litter crispier when cooked in the roaster. Check out Bed, Bath & Beyond and don't forget your 20% off coupon!

I don't think anybody suggested Brunos Organics yet. They cook organic turkeys and deliver them Thanksgiving Day ready to go! Brunos is amazing!!!! I think you have to call and reserve right away since they sell out.

Perhaps you could borrow a roaster or buy one ~about $40. I cook 2 turkeys each year, one in the roaster & one in the oven.

Have you tried a turkey fryer? My sister usually Frys turkeys for thanksgiving and Christmas for our family it only takes a little more than an hour to fry one and the meat is extremely moist. Do you have a neighbor or a close friend that wouldnt mind trading some oven time for a nice warm plate of thanksgiving dinner? You could also check the Internet for used appliances or try a thrift store (don't laugh). Many thrift stores may look like junk but they have some very nice items inside I picked up a $350 table that was on sale in the paper at a thrift store for 66 bucks. Otherwise your best bet is to get a counter top roaster.
