My friend where plan on getting married this weekend and then the grooms mother passed away unexpected. They postponed the wedding due to the tragidiy. Well it comes tom find out the mother did not have any coverage, or money to pay for this. So the groom(son) had to pay for his mothers funeral. All of it. Nobody in his family would come out to help. He really took the death hard. Well his family did convience him to get married this weekend. (day after mothers funeral) but since he could not afford the wedding expenisive as planned. He canceld the photos, cake, flowers ( except her bouquet)and honneymoon. I felt so bad. ( By the way he is a COP). So I spoke to the preist about allt this he was able to get a photographer to help at no cost, and I got lady to make a cake. And the Brides brother paid to get her flowers back. But other then that there has been no help. I am trying to get him a bed & breakfast or night stay away or something. Just for them to get away a little. His mothers death, bills, wedding, unhelpful family etc. I wish I had money to help them but I do not at all.

Any ideas how I can get them something just to help them relax and have some kind of honneymoon? Any ideas!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to all your advice and helping hands. God Bless you all. The wedding did go on and it was wonderful. We did get photogropher that was able to take pic's. We where able to get a cake and it was soo good and one of the pressties cakes I have ever seen. Overall there where moments, but the groom held his head up high and smiled and enjoed himself. His words where "this week was a emotional rollercoster, it involved the worst and hardest day in my life, and the best day. Thank you to all of you that have been here for me and I can never thank you enough."

Thank you again!

Bastrop state park, has the cutest quiet cabins. It is not expensive. They can take their own linens. Each cabin has a fireplace and a tiny kitchen fridge and microwave..Send them with a Honeymoon basket of goodies, champagne, cheeses, bread, salad, fruit, wedding cake... Very cozy... you can go online and find the info under Texas Parks.

I do know that Studio 6 in Austin has rooms for about $50 a night,, me and my husband went there and had a small vacation. It was nice. And it is a nice hotel, not a rats nest!

I wish I could help but I'm out of ideas. I can say this, in some ways having the wedding done where they can move on with their lives can be the best relief they might ask for. It sounds like they are blessed with so many great friends. Help their wedding go off with out a hitch. Once they are home and snuggled up together, married, it will all get better.

Good luck.
