Have you tried Aparicio's in Plano? I am not into tamales so I don't know how they taste, but I know that they had a sign up last time we ate there that they were taking Christmas tamale orders.

I am looking to order 4 dozen tamales for Christmas Eve dinner. I am from the San Antonio area and it tamales are a family tradition. I would prefer to have some mild for the young ones and some hotter for the adults. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

There's a place in East Plano 18th/Ave. K. Family owned business for over 25 years... I cannot remember the name of the place to save my neck! The place is behind the Texaco Station.
Luna's Tortilla Factory on Harry Hines. They make the best ever. They have several varieties - pork, beef, chicken, cheese & jalapeno and probably a few more I'm forgetting. While you're there you can also pick-up red & green tortilla chips, hot sauce and corn and flour tortillas (handmade). I've already placed my order for Christmas eve.
Try The Tamale Lady ###-###-####. They deliver to the office I work at and they are wonderful!!!!!!
Dallas Tortilla Factory makes really good ones too. There are several locations around town. The lines can really be long on christmas Eve, though, so I suggest pre-ordering.
There is a lady named Diana Riquez that makes both mild and hot- They are delicious-

She also sells homeade salsa.
Please go to Central Market. I'm from San Antonio, too! They are fabulous! Remember that owned by HEB, the real place to shop for good groceries! Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
Hi, S.! You've gotten some great responses, but a friend of mine was just telling me about a restaurant that she went to that had the best tamales she'd had in a long time. They were spicy, though, and that's the only way they make them. The restaurant is Mr. ____@____.com sell them for $10 a dozen and she said they're large and really stuffed. I also like Dallas Tortilla & Tamale Factory and they have all different flavors and heats. The one I go to is @ 8300 La Prada, #162 in Dallas, but they're all over. I've heard about Luna's several times lately, but this is the first I've heard that Central Market has them. New places to try tamales! Yum!
Have a very Merry Christmas! God Bless! S.
Wow! Living in San Antonio I'd think you could get them anywhere. Try calling some of the authentic mexican food restaurants and see if you can special order them, or maybe one of the specialty restaurants at the Mercado (?) in SA. Ask people from church or work if they know of people who make tamales. Maybe you can even look online and have them shipped. Good luck.
If there is a Central Market grocery store near you, they have GREAT ones and you don't have to worry about ordering them in advance!
Aparicio's at 18th St/Ave K in Plano has their own tamale factory. They have great food!
La Popular Tamale House makes awesome tamales of varying degrees. They are voted best in D Magazine consistently. ###-###-####. 4904 Columbia Ave. Dallas , TX 75226
I'm from Austin and we have the same tradition... I was at Fiesta grocery store one year buying tamales (they are really good there too), and overheard 2 abuelitas talking/bickering about ingredients for tamale making. I stopped them and asked if I they sold their product or just prepared for their families and they said they did sell them, and for me to come back the next day and they'd be sitting on the corner with a cooler. Sure enough - there they were! I've gone back to them every year. They were at Ross and Henderson (Dallas). these tamales were the best ever!
I would think that wherever there's a Fiesta, there's some abuelitas buying tamale prep and you could do the same thing I did... I speak fluent Spanish, so i know this helped, as they did not speak a word of English.
Central Market makes the best tamales. Get them now and freeze them because they usually run out.
They have bean/cheese, pork, chicken, beef.
Delicious!
Try Market Street. I have had them there and thought they were pretty good and I believe they have different degrees! Merry Christmas.
Hi S., I'm from San Antonio and you're right - it's hard to find great tamales in this area. I'm glad you asked the question so that now I have resources. Happy Holidays!
I also vote for Central Market.
My husband grew up in San Antonio and this is his family Christmas eve tradition too! They have ordered from Mi Cocina for years and they are always delicious. You can stock up on the "go-withs" too!
Last year I got mine in East Plano at Aparicio's. They have several varieties. You can order them now with side dishes too. Let them know what time you want to pick them up. You can get them ready to eat or refrigerated.
You've gotten good responses. My vote is definitely for Central Market, but I also like Dallas Tortilla and Tamale factory.
Ruth's tamales are excellent. We have them every year at Christmas. She sells her tamales out of "Smokey John's BBQ" on the South side of Mockingbird just before your get to I35. Make sure to get some chili to pour over them!
FYI: Ruth also has a stand where she sells them at the State Fair each year (next to the Cotton Bowl).
central market has good ones and so does the texas tamale company out of ft. worth
