good suggestions so far...I've also done band-aids. All kids love bandaids! Bouncy balls also usually fit. The idea of chalk eggs is totally cute too...just hide them as they are, along with silly putty or play doh eggs.
Hi Moms! My daughter and I are invited to a easter egg hunting party on Saturday and we are supposed to bring 12 pre-filled eggs. The kids are all pretty young and I want to put something in them besides candy. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to put in them? I know the eggs are small so I have to be careful what I put in them. Thanks in advance for suggestions!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! (btw the kids range from 4 to 1). I plan on hitting the store tomorrow.

my daughter was only 8 months old last easter, old enough to hunt but to small for most treats so we filled her plastic eggs with Gerber puffs
I am assuming there will be boys and girls? Are we talking babies, toddlers, or preschoolers?
mini die-cast cars...I've found them at Target in the party supply section. They are smaller than hot wheels [hot wheels may be able to fit, too]
cute mini hair clips
mini bubbles [like those small ones you might see at a wedding]
playdoh
finger puppets
Littlest Petshop animals or Polly Pocket figurines
magnets [you could make your own little bunny or chick ones with googly eyes]
little rings, necklaces or bracelets [also can be found in the party supplies]
plastic bugs/snakes
depending on the age, mini nail polish?
Also depending on age, those little dinosaurs that expand in water may be cool
Dollar Tree has little glow in the dark pendants along with the glow sticks...those would fit, but should not be used if they are young enough that they would still chew on them [although I believe they are non-toxic, it's still gross]
I second the temporary tattoos and stickers suggestion
Instead of candy you could put dried fruits in them. Raisins, dried cherries, craisins or the Welch's snack-size packaged dried fruits [comes in a box with 9 pouches. 3 Berry Medley, 3 Tropical Sensation, and 3 Mixed Fruits....my son, 27 months, loves them and they are great for throwing into your purse and would fit perfectly into an egg]
For Halloween I go to a large party supply store and look for small trinkets to give out instead of candy. Not the REALLY cheap kind of trinkets, but nothing very pricey either. You could do the same for your Easter egg fillers. Just make sure the items you get are small enough to fit and age-appropriate. Since you're only getting 12, you can probably spring for the really nice items, too. Maybe up to a dollar a piece!
I haven't read your answers yet, but I know that fake tatoos are always a hit. Stickers and beaded bracelets will be good, too.
We've used pennies, stickers, small toys (ie little pet shops or fisher price little people), whistles, fruit rollups or fruit snacks( yeah, candyish but my chidlren really like them), prism viewers and necklaces and lip gloss for girls. I have camo "stuff" for the boys; parchute men, squirt genades, puzzle watches, etc. Check out the party aisle-where they have items for the goodly bags, at the store. There are usually small toys, etc that should fit in the eggs that are fairly inexpensive.
Last year, I put stickers in the eggs. Tattoos were work too. One mom also bought the playdough eggs, they were also popular. Hope this helps - have fun at the party!
stickers and temporary tattoos are always good... pre-packaged fruit snacks fit in the eggs pretty well... safety suckers, small toys (cars, trucks, army men), platic jewlery, ect. (from the dollar store or any party supply)
As long as the children are not too young, coins like nickles, dimes, quarters, 50 cent pieces or even $1 coins work great. The kids like it and then your kids don't have sooooo many little trinkets that you don't really want.
Stickers, temporary tattoos. Gold fish, teddy grahams, life cereal...
Last year when my son was a year and a half the only eggs I let him have had stickers, temporary tattoos, mini boxes of raisins, packets of goldfish crackers. Everything else was a choking hazard. This year I got mini-bubbles from the party store to put in them.
You have lots of ideas from the other posts if you don't have to worry about choking. If you do get stuff for toddler age, let them know when you get there that yours are choking hazard free, they might want to use them somewhere specific. We do a hunt with our moms club and have a little kid section and big kid section, and its nice to know to put the safe eggs into the little section.
I just picked up egg shaped chalk at Target the other day. I have pastel cello wrap that I'm going to wrap each "egg" in and tie it with a curly ribbon. Who doesn't like chalk!
Cheerios, gerber puffs, maybe some dollar bills? Like the other posts say anything that doesnt pose a choking hazard. Stickers are good too, fruit snakcs. Lots of good ideas on here :)
Stickers, dollar bills, ribbons and barrettes for little girls.
Stickers go over well, even if the kids are young, you didn't give an age...but my littlest thinks stickers are fun and he is under 3. You can find lots of little novelty gift items at the different discount stores to fill eggs with, Biglots, Walmart, Target, the different dollar stores, also we have a place called Factory Card Outlet that always has trinkety-type toys. Also craft and Hobby stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. We are not big on the whole candy thing so I always try and find fun things for eggs...for girls hair pretties/barrettes fit nicely for little boys toy soldiers fit well too. If money isn't an issue you can usually buy books of coupons from places like McDonalds for a free cone or french fry, and put one coupon in each egg...hope you find something fun = )

I've used the packets of graduates fruit chews in eggs and will again this year. My kids love them and think they are getting candy when they get it as a treat.
My daughter is 19 months and loves the cheap beaded necklaces (she got tons at the St. Patty's parade). I know she is also fascinated by plastic rings (the big gaudy type) and the old-school jelly bracelets. That's what we're planning to put in her eggs this year.
Nothing that's a choking hazard! Seriously, I know you watch your child, but there will be some people with smaller kids who won't.
We usually do animal crackers, stickers and raisins.
