I was wondering where can I buy a sleep positioner/ wedge from to make my baby sleep on his side.. The doctor suggested that he needs to sleep on both sides, inorder to keep his head from going flat at the back, or is there any other way I can make him sleep on his sides without using a positioner.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

As already mentioned, they can be dangerous and are not recommended except by the companies that make them. When my older kids were infants, I used rolled up infant blankets, the thin kind, against one of my girls' back.

This is the one we used for our son: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3559172

Many people do not recommend them. Our son had severe reflux and we were told to use it because he needed his head elevated and he needed to sleep on his side incase he vomitted in his sleep.

Best position for baby to sleep is on their tummy. Baby can turn head sideways or you can turn for baby. They sleep longer that way. Otherwise, I use folded and rolled up adult bathing towel behind baby's back whenever baby is side sleeping.

NO! We used one with our oldest and what a huge mistake. When we went to feed him the first night, we found he'd slipped all the way down and his head was caught between the two wedges! We had no idea they were so dangerous. We decided to worry less about how much our son moved around the crib, as long as he was on his back at the beginning.

According to the A merican Society of Pediatrics the safest sleep position is on the back; it reduces the chance of SIDS. The problem with side sleeping is the baby can roll onto their stomach. The article also said that a "flat spot" is a temporary condition, and suggested putting the baby in different directions (on their back) in the crib. Also suggested "tummy time" while they are awake.
