Need Some Advice on Breast Augmentation

Hey moms!
I am a loving mother of three beautiful boys. I'm done having kids! I have breastfed all three of my angels, and now my boobs are just horrible. They look like deflated balloons. They are much smaller than they were BEFORE I had kids and it's very frustrating to me. I am just shy of 5'10 and I dont' quite fill out a B cup anymore. Clothes don't fit my long body AND my chest... I just feel self conscious and like these boobs aren't MINE if that makes any sense. My question is this... have any of you mamas had breast augmentation? I'm really on the fence about this, but it's something I'd like to consider. I'd really appreciate hearing from some of you moms that have actually done it. Did your breasts look the way that you hoped that they would afterwards? Did you have any problems that required additional surgery? Would you recommend it? Please- no judgement about this! Thanks in advance!

I have two close friends that have done it and are very happy with the results, one even had one more child AFTER the fact with no problems. Both of them have had the perky new girls for over 10 years with no repercussions except for me teasing them on occassion ;) I'm envious but going under the knife is too scary for me. Neither of them had to go back to have anything fixed, they both had the "under the muscle" placement, I think that does make a big difference in the end result.

I had it done years ago and have never regretted it! Having boobies is nice ;)

The best advice I can give you is to do lots of research on your own and then see at least 3 surgeons for consults. Doing both of those things helped make my decision much easier about who to use. And look at pics if they have them.

One doc I went to-OMG-every single girl had these huge goldfish eye boobs! Awful!

Another wanted to only take me from an A to a B and do an extra procedure because my nipple are a little "poufy". Excuse me? They look just fine to me lol!

The last doc I went to talked about choosing a size that fit my body, explained he would never do anything extra to my nipples because there was nothing wrong with them (nipples come in all shapes and sizes!) and with my fair skin there would always be a visible scar around my nipple (ewww), which way he would place the implants so that I wouldn't have visible scarring, etc. I didn't feel like it was a one-size fits all doc. He was actually taking the time to come up with *my* plan of treatment.

But having learned a lot on my own really helped.

Afterwards, it wasn't too bad. Just had to take it easy for a couple of weeks, I slept on a wedge for a while, needed someone to help me get off the bed for a couple of days, that type of thing but very tolerable overall.

forgot to add-I had mine done *before* I had kids and didn't have any problems nursing either of my little ones (16 & 20 months!) The doc went in under the fold rather than the areola.

I absolutely recommend having a boob job! I was in the same position, tall and nothing would fit my whole body. I went to Dr. Creech in Chandler and was thrilled with the results. He was great and they do the surgery in his office so you don't have to deal with a hospital. I think the most common complaint is that you wish you had gone a little bit bigger so I would choose the size you want and then go 1 size up- not cup size but implant size. I ended up with a large C and love it. I can fill out clothes without busting out of them. Under the muscle and through the nipple was best for me and the new silicone memory gel implants.

Yes and yes! Three kids like you and they were very saggy, nipples pointing south. Do your research, find a good, reputable doctor. My husband always says what a great job the surgeon did, they look totally natural, etc. Also, I recommend going for a few consultations with different plastic surgeons. The one I picked was my fourth one. You would be amazed at the differences in cost, too. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I think a happy self confident woman makes the best mom and wife.

I had my augmentation in may. Post breast feeding my two boys. I am very happy with the results. The pain was minimal and i was up changing diapers and doing dishes the next morning.

Good luck to you!

Hi L.,
I am not yet done having children, but I understand your feelings. I am always torn, because as opposed as I am to having a foreign object placed in my body- I know how my body makes me feel and if momma isn't in a nice, confident place, then the whole family suffers. I agree with the advise you have been given. Do a lot of research and have consultations until YOU feel comfortable. My sister had them done about a year ago and is very happy with them. And for the same reason- just to feel like a woman again, not a man.

I had mine done 11 years ago before babies and I still don't regret it for one second! I love the way they look and didn't have any problems at all. I was able to nurse both of my children. I'm currently expecting my 3rd and plan to have a revision surgery to silcone after baby.
I would suggest you visit Nicole's Forum (implantinfo.com). It is the best implant website out there. I spent a year on that site doing research prior to my surgery. There are a ton of before and after pics from surgeons and patients, message boards, doctors by state...and just SO much information.

LOVE mine!!! I went through the areola and under the muscle. I thought I was done having kids before I considered a breast augmentation... I had my son after it was done and I still didn't have any issues.

Mine looked great shortly after I'd had them done and they still look awesome now... 7yrs later!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

My sister in law just had it done in September. She said if she could do it all over again she would have gone bigger (which I think happens alot) and one of her breasts still has not dropped. She now has to wear some band that she said is painful to try and push it down. The doc said if it does not drop she will have to have another surgery. She has been wearing the band for a while so I would guess she will have to have another surgery. She is still happy she did this. Like you her breasts were deflated from breastfeeding and I think after all she has been through she is still happy. I would love to have mine done. I would love to have this done but I am not finished in the baby making department. :) Good luck in making your decision.

I had 4 babies and breastfed each of them for a year so my boobs basically looked like a couple rocks in long tube socks! I was soooo self consious, I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. I just had a lift and augmentation about 4 weeks ago and couldn't be happier! It was not as painful as I had anticipated, I LOVE my doctor, I feel like I look like I did before kids. I am a very modest dresser, I only had them done for myself and my husband, when the swelling goes down I will only be about a small C cup. I barely told anyone I even had them done! My doctor is Dr. Deborah White, she also did my sister in law and a neighbor/close friend of mine, she's amazing. Do it, you deserve it!!!

I haven't had it done, but I just wanted to let you know that is most states any doctor can perform plastic surgery. Please make sure you do your research on the doctor and make sure they are board certified. Most states also have websites you can check to see if there have been any complaints filed against the doctor.

I think that if you know you are done with having children, and dont feel self confident anymore, then go for it. Its understandable that they would change but if you dont feel like yourself anymore and you feel it would improve the way you look and feel about yourself then do it. Having kids takes a toll on your body an there is nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about yourself. :)

I had mine done 7 years ago and have never regretted it. Find 3 or 4 plastic surgeons who are Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and set up consultations with them all. Then pick the one you feel is the best. Make sure that you like the nurse as well, because she will be very helpful to you.
It is important to ask lots of questions and do your research on the doctor and the facility.
The are lots of questions to consider:
Size - the biggest complaint is that most women wish they had gone bigger) Were you happy with your size when you were breast feeding?

Placement (under the muscle or over) under looks more real out of clothes, they both look real in clothes. Under puts 97-98% of the breast tissue in front of the implant and over puts it all under the implant.

Saline or Silicone. Silicone is now made in a gummy bear type implant that won't leak out if it ruptures.

Also, get a digital base line mammogram before you have implants put it.

There are several great web-sites that are loaded with helpful information and people. My favorite was Bi411.com, the ladies on the forum were so helpful before, during and after. Breastimplants4you.com was another good one. You need to look at things like your height, weight and chest circumference. By doing some internet research you can find pictures of women with the same stats as you and take the pictures with you to your consults so the doctor knows exactly what you want.

Please send me a message if you have any questions.

I had my boobs done after I finished breast feeding my son and am very happy I did it. Make sure you research possible doctors thoroughly. Plastic surgeons often specialize in eyes, faces, boobs, or noses. Make sure you get someone who does mainly boobs and be clear about size, so you don't get too big or too small. Good luck.
