Need Recommendations for Video Monitors

I am expecting #2 in April and was interested in buying a video monitor. We were always wondering if the crying was from her rolling over and getting stuck then, later on, is she standing up in her crib or lying down and just needs to fall back to sleep. So we thought a video monitor would be a good investment.
Does anyone have a particular brand/model that they love. Any bad experiences with video monitors?
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

We have one made by Summer Infant and it is about 2 years old. It is worth its weight in gold!!!! I thought it would be overkill, and my friend persuaded me to get it over the traditional monitor.

For example: Last night my 20 month old son woke up at both midnight and 2 am to complain. I can roll over, look at the monitor, he him rolling around (not stuck in the crib or trying to climb out) and go back to sleep. The incident is over in 2 minutes. If I had to go in there to check on him, it would drag out for at least 30 minutes.
Plus the noise is so sensitive that you can hear your infant breathing if you turn it up! That is worth a solid 2 hours of quick sleep!
Good luck and congratulations.

I don't have the video, just the motion sensor one, so I can't provide brands, but I do remember someone talking about one a couple years ago. It was one that could be plugged into the TV. That way, you could actually see the child, rather than searching that tiny screen. Might be something to look into. I love the monitor I have and don't feel the need to have the video for number two, but I do remember wanting one for #1, so I understand the desire.

We started using the Bebe Sounds video monitor a few months ago. I absolutely love it. Installation was easy, the batteries in the hand-held monitor are re-chargeable, and the picture quality (even in the dark) is great. Our son is 22 months and it's great peace of mind to see what is going on in that crib. It's also pretty entertaining too when you can see them playing in there! We are expecting #2 in May and I'll be purchasing a second camera from the same company so we'll have the video monitor from the start. The monitor does have sound as well and even has an option where you can turn off the video and just have the sound on; pretty handy for night time monitoring.
Best of luck to you with #2 and congratulations,
C.

Cannot give you advices on the best model out there but something to think about (because I was thinking of getting one)is i felt I would be obsessed with looking at it when really i need is to hear her. I knew if she ws stuck or something was hurting her because of her type of cry. When she was older if she was chatting and moving around I would give her 20 min and if I still heard her I wold go in and gtell her she needs to try to close her eyes and go to sleep. It can take allof us some time to fall asleep and if she was not crying it did not bother me I knew she wold fall alseep soon. Sometimes she would be in there awake for an hour sometimes 15 min. To me they are not worth the money. If you do feel the need to get one I would go onto babies r us websites and lok at the reviews. Always a good source when purchasing something that can be pricey. Good luck
