Hello-
I only have good things to say about Back Cove Midwives -- http://www.backcovemidwives.com/
When I had my daughter in 2002, Joyce & Ellie were there - I don't know the other 2, but every experience, appointment (I still have my annual exams with Ellie) and especially my birth has been top notch.
When I was pregnant, Ruth Hope was part of BCM and it looks like she is now at:

Ruth J. Hope, CNM
She was great when I had appointments with her.
I am a big believer in midwifery and I think the birth experience is much more natural/much less medical when they are involved.
At our birth, in the middle of the night, the lights were all out except a nightlight type thing and they used a flashlight to see what the needed, I was not hooked up to any machines or monitors and we had music playing all night and Ellie ran the hot water for 2 hours going to the sink between every push to wet a cloth to apply to my perineum during pushes so I would not tear...and I did not tear one bit. It took me 2 hours to push my daughter out - she was 8 lbs, but they let me take my time and do it my way instead of coaching me through every push and counting, etc. They let me do what felt right to me. I was very lucky.
Good luck to you.

PS - I also had a "special circumstance" as my daughter had meconium which I discovered when my water broke at home. Ellie would not let me do a water birth as I had hoped/planned, but other than that she did not make a big deal out of it, she did not scare me or take any major medical precautions. She and the nurse (who was awesome) checked my baby's heart rate a lot to make sure she was not in distress, but they allowed me otherwise to have a totally normal and natural birth. I believe a doctor may have medically intervened unnecessarily.
