I'm pregnant with my second child. With the first I was so uncomfortable (back pain, hip pain, etc.) that I had trouble sleeping. I would like to try one of those big pillows and see if it helps. Do you have a brand that you love?

What can I do next?

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! I bought one of those big body pillows and they went flat in no time. I loved it when it was fluffy though!!! I'm not pregnant anymore but just found a pillow that I'd wish I'd found when I was pregnant. It is one of those memory foam pillows. It is quite hard but it squishes down when you lay your head on it. I didn't like it for my head so I put it under my knees and I had the best night sleep I've had is so long (except for the baby waking up). It never goes flat and it is not any bigger than a regular pillow so when you want to roll over you just take it with you. I bought mine at Kohls for $34.00 but I've seen them at Costco, Penny's or pretty much anywhere you can buy pillows at. Good Luck!!

I bought one of those giant slightly curved C shape pillow that is supposed to wrap around your back and also curves so you could put one end between your knees (that helps your back alignment). I found it to take up way too much space in the bed, and since I'm a tosser/turner, it never stayed where it should. It was expensive and didn't work for me.

What I would recommend is a plain old body pillow (costco, target about $15). It's a super long rectangular pillow (about 4 1/2'). I hug it and put one end between my knees which really eases any back pain. I imagine for a pregnant woman, you could slide the upper part under your belly (assuming you are sleeping on your side)which would provide some support. I ended up continuing using the body pillow after my pregnancy.

Hi
I just wanted to throw in a word of caution about the memory foam type of pillow. they put off horrendous fumes for the first week or so that you have them and for some time after (but your nose gets used to the smell so you dont notice it as much). the foam is made of chemicals. if you get one i would recommend you put it out in the garage (out of its wrapper) for a week or two until the smell goes away. i dont think it would be good for a pregnant lady to be breathing that chemical fumage. I used just a plain old long body pillow that i got at walmart for 8 bucks. this was 12 years ago, so i have no idea what they cost now. i got two actually, one for behind me and one for in front. i still have one of them and use alongside our bunkbed to keep the cold air from coming up. it also helped keep my boy from falling in to the crack between the wall and bed frame!! good luck and congrats on the baby!!

I LOVED The Snoogle. I had horrible hip, back and pelvis pain... my pelvis felt like it was broken! The snoogle worked wonders for me. It is a bit expensive and it did eventually go flat but even flat it worked just as well. And I mean it wasn't FLAT but it wasn't as fluffy as new, what pillows are? My fiance even borrowed it for naps sometimes when I wasn't using it because it helped with his back pain (he plays hockey).

I bought my Snoogle on Amazon and I LOVE it. It's very versatile. When I have it curled around me (around my back), it helps to keep me from lying on my back at night. I also put it in front of me and let my belly rest on it sometimes. It's also great because you can swirl it up into a "nest" and lie back on it to read in bed.
