Hi L.,
My 2 year old just got off of Pulmicort (today). We go to a pediatric allergist named Dr. Darrell Wong (there are about 4 others in his practice) and they have several locations- we go to Higley at Baseline. Their number is ###-###-####. I've never had to wait too long for an appt. He is wonderful. We have a lovey, too, but haven't had the face rashes. He had a terrible diaper rash as an infant and we finally got that fixed after 5 pediatricians and countless "remedies". Also, just be careful if you get off cow's milk and go to soy. We still do cow's milk and he seems fine but after some research about soy products (my son likes tofu), we only go organic now on tofu because of the level of pesticides, etc. in soy products.
I highly recommend Vanicream products- they are least expensive at Walgreens. They have a heavy cream, light lotion, sunscreen and soaps that the entire family now uses. They have never irritated my son's skin.
I have confidence that Dr. Wong will be able to help you guys. He's truly great and I know how frustrating it can be to see your little angel suffering- especially with some kind of skin rash that the pediatricians seem to just throw topical agents at. Pediatricians are great but they are generally not skin specialists.
There is also a fabulous website my mom just found for me called allergykids.com. I highly recommend checking it out. That's where some of my soy research came from. Good luck and keep us posted!
