I had both of my children(ages 6 and 2) at Baylor Dallas and had a wonderful experience both times.
Good luck!
I have recently found out that I am pregnant. This came as quite a shock as I am 37 and was on birth control. Anyway this is going to happen and I am a little out of the loop on doctors and hospitals these days as my youngest child at the moment is 14. So I'm sure you can see my delima. The closest hospital to me is Women's Hospital at Dallas Regional but I am not at all sure about this. I have not been since the buyout or what have you but I wasn't very impressed then (things can always change). My current doctor practices through Baylor but I am not sure that I want ot be downtown. Please can anyone help me? It would be great to get some opinions on these issues. Thanks in advance.

I just had my baby at Baylor Dallas 7 weeks ago. So let me first explain why I love Baylor so much. At Baylor, they really want you to take control of your labor and delivery as much as possible. Yes, you can have an epidural if you would like, but they do not at all push the issue. They offer many things to help ease the discomfort of labor and they practice many diffrent ways in which you can have your baby. While laboring you are encouraged to walk around, get in the shower or tub, use the labor ball, etc; whatever helps your comfort level. When giving birth, you can give birth leaning over the bed, they have squatting bars, your support person can be sitting behind you, the beds go from laying flat on your back to sitting up and the bottum half drops down so that the bad actually becomes a birthing chair. I gave birth on my side. So there is a lot of freedom for you to take control of the birthing process. They also do what is called "kangaroo care", which means that when the baby is born they do not whisk the baby off only to leave you alone for 2 hours or longer wondering, "what is going on with my baby". Everything they do to the baby, they do it in the same room as mom. It may be diffrent if there are problems with the baby, I don't know. But you go to the postpartum room with baby in arms and baby stays in the room with you. If you would like for them to care for baby in the nursery while you rest between feedings (which I did at night), that is completely fine too. They also assume that all babies will be breastfed. Of course if a mom chooses not to breastfeed, they will bottle feed, but if you do plan on breastfeeding and if, for instance, the baby has a difficult time latching on, they are not quick to cry formula. They want breastfeeding to be a success and they do all they can to help. Not to mention, Baylor has countless awards for their superb care.
A for an OB, I really like the Drs at Women's Health Alliance. They have an office in Mesquite and also one at the Baylor Dallas complex. They are really great. I have dealt with 3 of the Drs there and if you would like me to tell you more about them send me a message and I will go into detail more for you on who I have liked and disliked based on my experiences.
I hope this has been helpful! And congratulations! How exciting!
Congrats!! I had my baby at Baylor-Dallas, and will have my 2nd in June there also. They just won the award for best place to "Have a baby" for 2007. I had a pretty great experience there. I think you can tour hospitals and talk w/staff to determine where you want to have your child. Some places don't offer private rooms, that was a must have for me. I live pretty far away from Baylor, but I believe it was worth the drive! Good luck!
Dr. Samuel Tyuluman at Presbyterian is wonderful. I had both of my kids at Presby of Dallas and was very happy with the experience.
I had my baby at Baylor Dallas a couple years ago and loved it there. I still remember my nurse and went back to see her after my son was a year old. They were very thorough - the lactation specialists were phenomenal. Granted, I love my doctor as well so I felt very comfortable and knew I would be in great hands. I live in Murphy, so there are many hospitals between us and Baylor - but I love my doctor and the classes available at Baylor.
We had our daughter at Baylor-Grapevine, and it was EXCELLENT! I loved it! The nurses respected my wish to nurse my baby every time and allowed me to have her with me as often as possible. They were very good.
I had all three of my kids at Medical City Dallas (Forest and 75.) My Dr is Michelle Heintges and her office is in the hospital. I LOVE her and all the other docs in her practice are great too - Amy Sigman, Amy Napier, Heidi (?) Harms - all great. Nursing staff is fabulous.
The hospital is wonderful.
Good luck and congratultations!

I am 100% about Medical City Dallas. I had both of my kids there with Doctor Milstein. He is wonderful as well as the other docs in his office. I love the hospital because I got to do everything my way.. and everyone there was SOOOOOO nice. Any surgery, birth, doc appt, emergency visit, ANYTHING I have never run into anyone that was rude or unwilling to help. The rooms are really nice..and private!!! (you dont pay private fee) If you are interested my doctors number is ###-###-####.. I live in Rowlett.. and still drove all the way there.. I refuse to go anywhere else.. I also have a mother in law that use to work there.. even knowing all of the ends and outs of that place.. she said that they are one of the best hospitals she had ever seen.. :) Congrats on being a mommy !!! There is no other feeling like it in the WORLD!
