Where can I get larger pieces of leather for a project? (making several large holsters for swords so can't be too flimsy) It can be on a roll or larger pieces (bigger than 24") Just needs to be for the best price possible. Any ideas??

What can I do next?

I go to a pawn shop that sells Native American fabric, beads, and all sorts of leather.

Do you want real leather, or faux leather? Fabric.com has a ton of faux leather options.

Look for a store in your area that sells upholstery supplies. If they don't sell it, the can probably give you a good source for quality leather. Or do a google search for upholstery leather.

I second the recommendation for Tandy leather from "B" below. My husband used them for a present to me (custom leather dog leash) & he was happy with the cost & quality of product. (real leather, not faux) I know he did his homework on where to get what he needed before ordering. Good luck with your project! T. :)

I've seen what you are looking for on a roll at JoAnn's Fabrics and also at Hancock Fabrics. Michael's may have what you are looking for as well. The Sunday paper always carries coupons for all 3 of these places. Not sure if these stores are everywhere, though.

Good luck!

I googled wholesale leather and found one that looks good - theleatherguy.com
Being in TX seems like there would be leather wholesale places around??? If you know a local leather goods store, you could ask them for help also.

I'd call a couple of fabric stores - you'd be surprised what they have in the "Remnants" pile, and I would think you could use real leather or faux leather for this. See if you can negotiate an even lower price, especially if there is any damage to parts of the remnant - those are no good for people reupholstering furniture, for example, but would be perfect for you since you can cut around the bad spots! These stores want to move this fabric, remember! They'll often work with you. Go to bigger places that deal in furniture upholstering fabrics as well as the regular stores.

One place you could try is a furniture reupholstery store. You may have to call around but you may find one that has a bunch of smaller remnants that are too small for use on couches etc. A friend of mine was redoing a couple of chairs and was able to get smaller remnants for almost free. They coordinated but were not exact matches but that was okay.

You could get them at fabric stores, but another idea may be to look for some old leather jackets at a thrift shop.

It seems Amazon sells pieces of leather. Here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1/141-###-###-###... I don't know if this is a great price or not, as I have no experience with purchasing leather pieces. Sorry.

How about trying an arts and crafts store like JoAnn's Fabrics or Michael's, or even an upholstery store? Maybe the upholstery store has some unused scraps that they would otherwise dump that they can give you, or sell to you, at a decent price.
