Need Ideas to Keep an 8 Month Old Cool at a Theme Park in This Heat!

I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas, besides wearing a hat, shade, and ice water in her sippy cup, to keep her cool as we are strolling around the Theme park. If it does get to hot I can take her back to the camper while my husband stays with the older kids. I have one of those fan/mister but the fan blade is not covered so she would get her fingers in it....good for the older ones, not my baby girl. Anyway, just wondering what others have done that may have worked for them. Any imput would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the advice. We will be in Iowa, which is always a few degrees cooler than NE and not until Sat. We will be going in the AM from around 10am, when they open, to around noon so it won't be as hot. Then to the RV for lunch and then to the water park, unless she is tired and ready for nap, then mom and baby will be happy to take a nap in the RV where it is cool. I've heard the temp will be around 90 with issolated storms. Guess if it storms we will be in the RV anyway.

Don't take her. She is too young to handle this heat. I wish you would call her pediatrician . I am confident that she would advise you to keep her out of the heat.

Mist bottle is wonderful! And make sure you use a hat/stroller with a shade. We also freeze washcloths and pack them in a insulated lunch bag with ice. We take them out and let our toddler wear it on her neck or suck on it.

I have to absolutly agree with a mist bottle, also make sure you either breastfeed her or give her a lot of water, keep offering her every few minutes (they can get dehydrated pretty easily), pack a lot of juice fruit (watermelon, oranges, etc). Try to keep her feet and hands cool maybe spray some water on them if it gets very hot.
Have fun!

You could keep a cool/wet towel and put it around her shoulders or her tummy.

I'm not sure if the heat is heading out of your area yet, but we're expected to hit 101 on Friday with a heat index of roughly 115 (the whole high pressure dome is shifting slowly east).
That's killing weather and weather stations are warning people to stay in air conditioning and check on neighbors.
The very young and the elderly are more susceptible to heat stress and the hospitals are already being over run by heat stroke patients.
What the neighbors do for their rabbits (outside hutch) is to freeze water bottles, put them in with the rabbits and they snuggle up to the cold to stay cool.
If you must go out, you could try freezing a water bottle or two (maybe put them in socks) and keep those close to your 8 month old.

You can buy a little fan that's attached to a small water bottle that mists you. I suggested it to my parents when they took my kids to the zoo last summer. My mom gets heat stroke easily, and she said that thing was a life-saver. You can find them at pharmacy's and maybe even dollar stores.

Actually, the heat for today and tomorrow (the 21st and 22nd) are now Excessive Heat Warnings and are considered to be extremely unhealthy and unsafe. That means the warnings are to keep babies and elderly and, well, everyone in between out of the heat. No physical exertion in this weather during this particular heat advisory. It's just not safe to do anything. If your plans are to go today, I would wait until Saturday (the 23rd) when the heat wave is supposed to break. Friday is supposed to be even hotter than today.

We just went to a theme park yesterday with my little ones. For the baby we dressed him in the lightest weight and coolest cloths we could. We went inside an air conditioned place every so often. We also had a hand towel that we wet with cold water. We would put that around him in the stroller.

I'm not sure that giving her ice water to drink is a good idea. I'd ask her pediatrician about it.
