We have used water guns instead of water balloons, because of the mess of having to pick up all the latex that is left from the fun. I also did a soda bottle ring toss and gave the 2-liters of soda s prizes. hope these ideas help!!

Can you help me, Moms? I've been put in charge of activities for my niece's 7th birthday party. It will be outside in early April at a community center park and activities will be needed for about an hour of time. Besides free play, what elso do you think are good activities besides pinata and water balloon toss?
Thank you, all you awesome moms for your ideas. I feel like Robin Hood stealing from those rich in experience to make life easy for myself!! LOL! Thanks again, and I now have my work cut out for me!

You might want a back up to water activities...April could still be kinda cool...You could always do the pass the orange under the chin game. Or spoon and egg races (I'd use hard boiled). A scavenger hunt it always cool. You could show up early and hide everything and if there is a sand pit, bury a "treasure". Red light, green light is always good.
my sister can make water bottle labels with the bday girls picture or other ideas you might have. she makes candy cakes, scratch of cards. here is her web site http://www.mandyscandywrappers1.com/
maybe she can help.

playing some kind of hunt to find things or decorations to see whos is the best.
Hi my name is J., I have 3 boys 9,10, and 11! On their Bdays if nice day we have Leg races, bob for apples, boil some eggs and have them put on a spoon and race to the other end whomever doesnt drop it wins, gunny sack races( can use pillow cases instead). Ring toss! I cant think of anything else but I hope this helped a little!
Here is something me and my sister in law do for our kids parties that is always a hit! We do a cake walk and usually have aunts and grandmas make cookies, cakes , or brownies. it would be really easy for you to draw a circle and numbers w/ sidewalk chalk and bring a radio and play your kids favorite CD for them to walk around to. If you can't come up with people to donate baked goods you can always do a candy bar walk that is equally fun!
