At 6 months my DD's first solids was a ripe avocado. I mashed it up with a fork and added a bit of water so it's not too thick. She made a weird face just like she does to every first food but she ended up loving it.
DD hated rice cereal and oatmeal and banana.
You should give her prunes or the gerber prune/apple mixture to relieve her constipation.
A lot of times babies don't like the food the first time, just keep offering it. I would continue to give her oatmeal but you don't necessarily need to use the ones with banana, just get plain. You can mix veggies or other fruits into the oatmeal if she likes that. Make sure she is getting enough breastmilk or formula and you can start giving her water now too. You can give her green beans, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas, peaches, pears, applesauce, and more...but I'd start with that list first. She may not like it at first but keep trying.
You only want to try one new food per week in case she develops an allergy. Sometimes it takes a few times to try new foods before they begin to like it. At this age he/she doesn't need much it's more just to get them used to eating. At 6 mos mine was mostly just doing cereal. We did sweet potatoes and then bananas a couple weeks later. It may appear your child doesn't like it (is spitting it out??), but is really just getting used to having things in her mouth. How long have you been trying to give her foods? I also, personally, wouldn't be doing juice at this age. No nutritional value really at 6mos, they just need their milk.
Don't give up... just keep trying new things from time to time. Don't offer a new food every day and expect her to like it. It will take time. She is still young enough where breastmilk/formula and cereal is enough for her. Try mixing in a little food with the cereal so she can get use to a little bit of flavorfull foods. Also, in my opinion, apple juice (or any juice) is not necessary for a 6 month old. Breastmilk/formula and water should be the only liquids she needs. Juices have way too much sugar for babies and if they fill up on the juice they won't eat their nutritional foods. Why on earth Gerber puts out juices that have "6 months and up" on the label is beyond me. Even my pediatrian thinks this is ridiculous. Again, this juice thing is just my opinion. Giving your 6 month old daughter juice isn't going to harm her. You're her mama, no judgments here from me! Best wishes :)
Now that I'm a veteran--8 months today, thank you very much--my boy eats brown rice cereal with apple juice for breakfast. For lunch, he has some combination of carrot, potato, squash, all mashed. He likes green beans (fresh, not canned or frozen). He does not like banana--purses his lips when I offer it. (This is since 6 months, bit by bit.)
Banana's are very constipating. Please remember that feeding a baby anything except formula is to teach her to chew and swallow, not give her nutrients. That 100% comes from her formula or breast milk.
If she were on WIC at 6 months she would get vouchers for the regular amount of formula, a bottle of 100% juice, and a box of rice cereal. That's all the government suggests at this age.
Please also know that 100% juice IS considered to be a serving of fruit, it's no more sugar that eating the actual fruit. Note that a serving of juice per day is not very much and that is where a lot of moms mess up. It's only about 1/4-1/2 cup for an infant.
6 months is still so young. My kids didn't care for baby food at all at around 10 months so I just gave them table food at a year. Nutritionally babies do not need anything but breast milk/formula until about a year.
