Ok to all you mommas out there..........I have been looking for a new Dishwasher recently. I have done research, but there are so many models out there to choose from that I am SOOOOO confused. Are there any moms out there that have had a dishwasher for several years that has had great performance and no issues? I am leaning towards a Maytag just because I have had good success with them, but want to make sure that I get a good one. I am not looking to spend a fortune by any means, but up to about $600-$700 possibly. Any positive recommendations for me? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all have a great day!

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I want to ask you whether you have a dishwasher now and whether it stopped working altogether or just doesn't do a good job? I ask because I thought I needed a new dishwasher but realized that all I needed was a better dishwashing cleaner and to change the settings on my dishwasher!

I use Shaklee's automatic dishwashing powder, which is unbelievably phosphate free and does a great job: http://healinghappens.myshaklee.com/us/en/products.php?sk...

And I changed the settings on the dishwasher to "anti-bacterial" and "added heat."

I say yes to Maytag. My appliances were gifts, which was nice to receive. Although they were not a Maytag I went back to the shop several times to have them repaired. The sales lady took the time to inform if my family had spent 50 dollars at the time more for each one, I could have had all Maytag's and they would have lasted up to at least ten years each more on all of them. That is savings lost for me. Do not look back, they are a sound purchase you will be happy for a long time, pay more now not later. Enjoy your day.

I have Maytag (for about 4 years now) and my neighbor got a Bosch a month before we got ours. Both are working great, the only thing I don't like about the Bosch, is that it doesn't hold as many items. The layout is completly different than Maytag and I can wash an extra large pizza pan on my left side without any difficulties and there's no way she can fit that in her's. But, I love that mine can hold a lot more overall. To me, that's was the selling point. Both are equally as noisy.

We loved our Kenmore with stainless steel INTERIOR that we bought about 6 years ago. When we moved to another home 3 1/2 years ago, we bought another Kenmore with the SS interior--the model numbers changed, but we really like them.

I have had my Bosch for several years and not one problem. I had a Kenmore before that for about 9 years but it pooped out on me. I just like the Bosch better because it cleans better and it is so quiet you literally don't know it's running. I paid about $800 for it so that might be over your budget.

I see that you've already decided, but I wanted to add something...we have a maytag Quiet Plus that's over 10 years old...my dad and bro installed it and I can talk on the phone in the kitchen when it's running. It's been no problem. The only issue is the bottom rack rusting...probably an issue with any dishwasher....the plastic covering gets nicked and then water gets in, etc. I would recommend that you get some dishewasher rack repair right away and deal with any trouble spots as soon as they happen. you can get it on ebay and other places. It's a little bottle like fingernail polish. If you do that, your rack should be in good shape for a long time (we haven't replaced ours, but some of the tines have rusted off so it makes loading a little more challenging).

My experience with the GE Profile (not sure of the model). This thing was SO loud, sounded like a helicopter is in my kitchen. We only turned it on when we are leaving the house! ..but is worked REALLY GOOD if you don't mind the 'helicopter in the kitchen'!

I can't help you with brand/model, but I do have some advise to offer.

When you do decide bring some of your dishes with you to the store before you buy. Ok this sounds incredibly weird, but after buying a new dishwasher, my girlfriend discovered that her plates do not fit correctly. She has to make sure they are loaded in a very specific way that takes up lots of space. On the same note, I noticed that my bowls do not fit well in my dishwasher.

Good luck.

i bought a GE last year and it takes a very long time to wash and I am not too fond of the "loading pattern"--i would have designed it differently. It is good that you are taking your time--i was in a hurry--my other one broke and i just went in and bought the first one i saw because i didnt have a lot of time and wanted it immediately.

I say NO to Maytag.

I have been a huge loyal fan to Maytag. I have the Neptune washer/dryer set and they are about 8 yrs old with NO issues whatsoever.

So. going on that dependability (and my success with the washer/dryer) I bought a top of the line Maytag dishwasher to replace the GE Profile dishwasher which SUCKED. The Maytag was nothing but trouble and dead within 3 yrs. I have replaced the Maytag with a top of the line Kitchen Aid and I LOVE this dishwasher.

I also bought a top of the line Maytag fridge when I got the dishwasher and it was a bummer too. DEAD within 5 yrs.

I have since replaced my appliances with Kitchen Aid and have no regrets. When the washer/dryer dies, I will not replace them with Maytag.

Maytag used to have such a high rating and be known for great quality but that started lacking a few yrs ago when they had all the issues with the washers. They are no longer the high quality products they once were.

Good luck
