I am tired of spending hundreds of dollars on my kid's birthday parties that aren't even that extravagant. I need some ideas for food that won't cost a lot of money, just appetizers and such, for about 5 kids and 15 adults. Thanks

I made sandwiches with regular bread used pb&j, turkey, and roast beef, then I cut with cookie cutters (borrow some if you don't have any) they looked really cute & the kids loved them. You can also cut the sandwiches into quarters/four for the adults or use croissants.
If you make your own potato & pasta salad (it's amazing how easy it is to cook) you'll also save a lot money. But I wouldn't count out Coscto either for things like potato or pasta salad. I would definitely use Costco for the water bottles, juice boxes, and plates/utencils.
I also made cupcakes (got cake decor from Michael's) so much easier than the cake thing.
The weather is also perfect for a BBQ, and there is nothing cheaper than hotdogs & frozen hamburger patties (but someone will get stuck cooking the whole time, which always sucks!).
Also, think about ditching the gift bags for the kids to take home, it's nice to give, but as an attendee I never cared to have them & my son just loaded up on cake so he never needed it. Or do a pinata instead & give out the bags for the kids to collect candy.

Good luck & if a friend offers to help, see if they can make the potato or pasta salad, that always helps!

I buy the Party Pack from El Pollo Loco for about $115.00 for all my parties. Its not a ton compared to what you can spend elsewhere, you get a lot of food plus plates, etc.

Mini Pigs in a blanket are a huge hit with kids and adults. I use the Little Smokies and crescent roll dough. Cut each triangle in half to roll one little smokie. They are easy and cheap. A big bang for your buck.

Hi Jamie,

Why not get hot dogs for the kids and a couple of foot long sub sandwiches for the adults? Or you can get these 3 foot burritos at the mexican restaurant? (do u have a Jose's Mexican restaurant near you? they offer the 3 & 6 ft. burrito)And add to that some veggie and fruit platters. Some parties I've been to make mini croissant sandwiches, added potato chips and fruit.

hope I've been able to help =)

I just had my daughters birthday party on Saturday and was having the same issue. I decided on Pizza Hut. They are doing the pizza mia deal and it is only $5.00 for a 1 topping medium pizza once you order 3 or more. I ordered 5 pizzas and a double order of bread sticks and paid $33.00 and some change. We had 7 adults and 5 kids and ended up with a whole pizza left over. I would say you could feed your group for $50.00 with that deal....if you have a Pizza Hut! We also did not have to work at all during the party and clean up was a breeze!
