We all used Johnson and Johnson baby products and we don't glow in the dark! Use whatever you want. Once my kids were out of diapers we used whatever was on sale. Everyone uses the same soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
Sometimes we get special soaps as gifts at Christmas, but really - whatever is on sale. You could make your own - check Pinterest.

I use aveeno products for my kids. Johnsons brand really dries out their skin and make them itchy, but aveeno has been good so far.
I use the Good guide if I am not sure.
http://www.goodguide.com/
It rates products on any bad chemicals, and environmental impact.
Some brands we use are California Baby, Babyganics and Burts Bees.
I went on the snopes website and could find nothing at all about this. so not sure it is a real thing. there is something about tylonal etc but the webpage has been removed about bath items. maybe it was a hoax? we used johnson and johnson for all of our kids and our grandkids. in fact still have a bottle up there now lol and the youngest is 8 years old. should probably toss it since he has moved on to other stuff lol
Any soap and shampoo. The best ones are those that are on sale. When they are old enough to pay for "specialty soaps and shampoo" they can get what they want.
Honestly, I don't worry too much about what's in the stuff - maybe I should, but sometimes the organic "all-natural" products are just not in my budget. And we all grew up using whatever and we are all fine. I will say by 3 years old, DD was no longer using the baby products. I just use regular adult shampoo and conditioner on her hair - right now it is Garnier Fructis, I've also used Aussie brand. I also share with her whatever Bath and Body Works shower gel I happen to be using, because she likes the different scents. If you are looking for something more organic, you could try Burt's Bees or Tom's of Maine.
Any regular shampoo, conditioner, and soap is fine for a 3 year old. I use Pantene hair stuff on the kids and Dove soap for showers and baths when they're in my bathroom. I use the Suave kids shampoo/body wash in the pump bottle for them when they're in their own bathroom.
I use Dove soap for my kids, even my 18 month old. It is really the only thing that helps keep the eczema minimized. I did try this one organic soap that I had read rave reviews about and it did not help at all. I use the Suave kids' shampoo 2 in 1 or Loreal if it is on sale since my daughter's hair can get tangled sometimes and she has a sensitive head. For moisturizer, we use Cetaphil cream.
We recently tried out Seventh Generation body wash for my DD, who has sensitive skin. We had previously used California Baby and Aveeno (I'm pretty sure Aveeno is a Johnson and Johnson brand). I am happy with the Seventh Generation wash, and we also use some of their other products. I also use Dove on her for a conditioner.
I never liked the idea of my kid being bathed, shampooed and moisturized with chemicals. But I'm not exactly an all-green super-organic mom either. Yet....the commercial stuff dries out kids' skin, scalps and hair, in my opinion, and I know other moms who say the same. We didn't have one brand of anything that we used religiously but we did use some Burt's Bees products (pricey but last a long time since a little goes a long way). And now that my daughter is much older (12) she prefers using things like olive oil on her hair when her scalp is try, vinegar when her hair is oily, and natural lip balms etc. You can do the same on little ones -- dry scalp: olive oil, leave it on a few minutes, gently scrub the scalp as you wash it out, and so on. Lots of ideas and "recipes" online.
J&J and other big national brands also contain way too much scent for our family. And we never, ever used talcum powder - it's a mineral powder that could cause very serious damage if inhaled. It appalls me that it's marketed for use on infants and young children. My kid now uses it on her smelly dancer feet very occasionally and nowhere above that.
Johnson & Johnson products are terrible!!
We use Aveno.
If you are concerned about what is in your personal body care products for you and your family like I am, I can recommend looking up the toxicity rating on EWG's Skin Deep site: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
They rate everything from make up to shampoo, toothpaste, lotions, body oils ... you name it.
California Baby is a very safe brand that we've used. I believe Target carries the line, along with your healthier markets.
I don't buy this 'everything can cause cancer' business. I demand better and I find it. And I'm willing to pay extra for my and my family's health.
I just use Suave kids shampoo. It's cheap and gets 'em clean.
Listen, cancerous ingredients are EVERYWHERE.
If you are out taking a walk then you are breathing in car fumes, which I guarantee are worse than shampoo.
I have yet to read an article about how Johnson and Johnson's soap has led to one child having cancer.

For the kids I use Suave's kid brand, and the regular conditioner for the girls. If I run out before I get to the store they use whatever I have in the bathroom.
