i lived in oak park for 4 1/2 years and never heard anything bad only praises
I posted earlier with a question about gifted programs and thanks to many of you I received some excellent ideas. I am looking into them now. One thing that we are considering is Oak Park and the public school system there. Does anyone here have any info about their schools, specifically programs for gifted? I met with someone from the district this week and he was very helpful but I am looking to connect with other moms who may give me a more insider view. Thank you all so much.

Hi. I gave the advise to go to district 28 Northbrook. I use to teach in Evanston and we meet with Oak Park teachers to do inservices. I think you will have a very positive experience in Oak Park. It is very diverse culturally.
Hi E.:
Like the others that responded to you, I have only good things to say about about Oak Park schools. I went to OPRF High School and remember the College Prep classes as being very challenging so I can only imagine that the gifted programs for middle and junior are great too.

Good luck, R.

I have a child in the Oak Park schools.
It is a wonderful chance for a great education. My son is in the 7th grade and is gifted in math. He is in the excellerated math class and he loves it. I don't know where in Oak Park you are interested in, but he went to Longfellow and is now @ Julian Jr High.
(And a staight A honor student.)
I also have 3 adult children who went to Oak Park schools.
I am a single mom and also wanted a good education for my kids so I moved to Oak Park and have not regretted it.
You would defintely do your children a great service if you move to Oak Park and give them the chance of a great education.
You can e-mail me back for more info if you need it.
