We are looking for a car with third row seating that is not a mini van. We found a 2006 Acura Mdx that we are going to look at tomorrow. Just wanted to get some feedback/input from some of you that drive this car. Do you like it? Would you buy one again? What should we be looking for when looking at the car?

Thanks so much!!!

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the great advice. Well, we did buy a car but not the mdx. Since it was a used one it just wasn't in the best shape. But we accually found our first choice car a Mazda cx9. Our kids are old enough to move into the 3rd row if we have adults driving with us. We are expecting number three so we are ready now. :)Thanks guys

We had an MDX which I loved for us and our two kids, but any time we had visiting adults it was terrible for them to have to ride in the third row. There is not much space available when the third row is in use. This summer we finally brooked down and bought a VW Routan minivan and I wish we had done it long ago!

I had 2 MDX's and loved them!!!! I only have one child, so I rarely used the 3rd row. I would definitely recommend it~ I agree, I'm not a mini-van mom either :0)

My best friend has one-it's nice. and there is a screen to help with backing up-not sure about mileage, though. I had a Chrysler Pacifia for three yrs and it was amazing-agian -not great mileage.

We have a used 2007 MDX and I love it. We have two kids (2 & 5) and it works out great for us. Because our son is 5 and in a booster, we can easily move him to the 3rd row when we have other adults in the car and he loves it back there. And its now issue to put my daughter's carseat back there if need be. We had a Chrysler Pacifica before and I like this much better, because I like the full bench seat rather than the captain seats and I've found that with the third row down, the trunk area is bigger than the Pacifica. But one of the big turn ons for us, especially my husband, is the safety rating...MDX is a really safe car.

Good luck with your search.

I have a 2006 MDX and it is great, the only draw back is that that the maintainance is very expensive. but I would not trade it in for any thing, I also have 3 children and one on the way. One more thing it's good on gas but you have to use the premium gas per manufacturer. great vehicle. good luck

The Ford Freestyle might be an option for you, it's a nice big car w a third row seat.

I LOVE the Acura MDX... I have been researching a lot of cars, and it is great to have a third row, but the MDX's third row is just not a convenient if you have two car seats in the second row. Other cars (alternative to minivans to have better third row access) include crossovers such as Buick Enclave (I was impressed with the test drive!), GMC Acadia, Chevy Traverse. These non-minivans have captain chairs in the second row that allow you access to the third row. There is ROOM behind the third row as well. There are probably more than I listed (http://research.cars.com/go/crp/buyingGuides/Story.jsp?ye....

In the end, I think we are going to buy a MDX because I looove the way they drive. I don't think we need all of the room of the crossovers and minivans for most days of the year - only on long trips. So, I think the question becomes, how do you want to use and access your third row?

Well, that is my two cents!
