Moms,
My daughter is coming up on her 1st birthday. She is almost off the charts on height/weight (my husband is extremely tall), so it's very tough finding comfortalbe (feetsy) jammies for her (they run small because they're supposed to be snug I guess). Even when I go up two sizes, the sleeves are way too tight. Any recommendations for good brands? One of the only brands that fits and is of good quality is Hanna Anderson, but they don't seem to have feetsy PJ's....which leads me to my next question. She sleeps fantastic in her crib with just a "lovey" and doesn't seem to need anything else, but occasionally her feet are a little cold in the morning and she inevitably pulls her socks off (which is why I want her in feetsy jammies), and I was wondering at what point can I introduce a little blanket and when would she even get the concept of using a blanket if she's cold? any thoughts?

I like these. The feet allow for more room or no feet.

I have the same problem with my son who is 21 mo. He is in the 104th percentile for his height! It's so funny the only onesis pajamas I found that fit are the circo brand ones at Target. I do get one size bigger then it says he needs on the box. The best part is they are only $6.99. Oh, and it should be fine to use a light blanket now. I just read in a magazine the other day that you should keep blakets and stuffed animals out of your baby's crib until their one. So she should be just fine now : ). Good luck finding some jammys.
I had good luck finding bigger footies at both Carters and target. Both of my kids kicked off a blanket until we got them a twin sized one and folded it in half. We still just draped it over them in the crib, but it was big enough that it mostly stayed on during the night. Good luck!
You will struggle to find PJ's with feet past 12 months (unless you go to places like LL Bean , sometimes Walmart has them aswell but they tend to be fleece and for the winter , how about a sleep bag so that her feet are covered? Also solves the issue of a blanket aswell
She should have no problem with a blanket by now! We started our girl with a blanket when she was around 8 months old--when she was big enough to get herself untangled from it. I'm starting to have problems finding footies pjs too! I've just started to get the "union suits" that are snug pjs without footies. I don't really worry about the cool feet, it doesn't seem to bother her. Another idea would be to put tights (like the cotton ones with cute patterns--not the nylon fancy kind) on under her pjs.
Good luck.
Our son started using a blanket about 1/12 years old.
Try The Childrens Place. They have them in pretty big sizes! I have seen them up tp size 6 there!
I used sleep sacks until my son was almost two. They make them for summer and winter and they can go over jammies or undershirts. That way if they move around, their toes are always warm and covered. There are many brands--I used Halo. Then you don't even need a blanket, which one year olds can't manipulate anyway and they just fall off of them. Just google sleep sacks and you'll see a lot of options. My son is 3 1/2 now and has been sleeping with a blanket for a year or more. He can finally cover himself up if he's cold. He also sleeps in Carters sleep blankets which have feet and they make them for all ages.
I don't know exactly how they are too small for her, but Old Navy has feety pjs up to 5T. I've gotten ones for my son there before and they have the jersey ones on sale now at oldnavy.com. I also like Carter's and they have larger sizes too.
Good luck!
My 3 1/2-year-olds (who are also off the charts size-wise) still sleep in footed pajamas made by Carter's, so you should probably be able to find a size that fits. It may be hard to find them in springtime, though -- since they're more of a winter thing. We got ours at Kohls.com.
good luck!

Not sure if this is helps or is still online, but lord and taylor online had some feetsy pajamas from calvin klein, one with monkeys and one with clouds, that I bought for next year. I'm keepign them anyway, but they were huge compared with the ones I bought somewhere else. You can return them at any of their stores free if you don't like it. Otherwise, I also think Lands End runs long and loose.
My son has always slept in LL Bean jammies. They fit great and kept him nice and toasty. I love the LL Bean website as well because you can read all the feedback from other parents and they have a good return policy as well.
As far as the blanket goes, we didn't use one until our son was 2 and in a toddler bed and he was able to keep it on.
Sleep Sacks by HALO--they come in lighter cotton for summer, fleece for winter. It's PJs and a blanket in one. They even zipper upside-down so kids can't undo them.
Both of my children have slept with down blankets since they were out of the womb. One is now 9 and my second is now 4. I always think of it as "I can sleep without a blanket no matter how warm my pjs are...so why should my child be subject to that"
I believe in instinctive parenting, not textbook parenting.
We also have a tall son that quickly outgrew his PJs. I usually buy from hanna and put socks on him. You may want to try a larger sleep sack. Also check Land of Nod, they have nice things too. We use blankets on him now, he is 16 months. I prefer something open like an afghan that is somewhat breathable rather then something fleece. Good luck
My son was almost 2 before I gave a blanket. I didn't give him one until he could keep it on most of the night by sleeping in one spot more, and when he could push it off or pull it up himself. I saw no point in using one if he wouldn't keep it on and taking the chance of something extra in his crib to smother him. I probably would have done it earlier if he could have kept it on, though.
Once my son was a year old and the weather was warm, I didn't worry about keeping his feet covered. So once summer hits, you might be fine. I just checked his feet at night at first to see how they felt, and he was always warm enough.
Sleep sacks work great, and they even make one for bigger kids that they can get their feet out of so they can walk around. But what I did was get the footy pj's that have the tops and bottoms separate, those seemed to run bigger and not be so short and cramped on him. I think Carters had them most of the time. Hurry and get them quick though, it is hard to find footy pj's once the weather gets warm.
Hi A.,
Just a thought, why don't you get her the socks with the rubber on the bottom for her to walk in the house and when she goes to bed, change them to regular socks. Or just by her little slippers and have her wear socks. I used to do that with my sons, because they are tall for their age as well and nothing seem to fit them right. My middle one is not 10 and the oldest about to be 12, back then it was even harder to find anything good to fit them.
The blanket would end up as more of a lovey than a blanket. I would use a sleepsack. Also, the only footy jammies I have found that fit are fleece, but I still love them. They are from Children's Place, and you can get them online.
Blanket sleepers are pretty roomy. My kids were huge too and never
had a problem. Blanket sleepers have zippers in the front and are footed.
Nice thing is that they are not expensive. Give them a try.. My kids all
loved having a blanket that they coudl snuggle up to.
I also recommend sleep sacks! It's like having a blanket on. Your baby won't be able to keep a regular blanket on so sleep sacks are a great solution. You can get them in a heavier weight for winter and a lighter weight for summer.
Carters has footed PJ's up to 4T-or 5T.
