Good Morning!

I have been delegated the task of creating the centerpieces for our 20 year high school reunion. There will only be 12 tables I need to focus on. The suggestion from the committee is conversation starter cards with ?'s like "what was the #1 movie in 1992", "who was your favorite teacher and why" So...any creative ideas for more ?'s or any other centerpiece ideas?? I am so NOT creative and could really use your help :)

Thanks much!

What can I do next?

I was thinking of stacks of CD cases with top music, the VHS tapes of top movies, old class books, etc to make a little tower and have the cards relate to the topic of the item.

I like the idea of starter cards being placed at each chair. An idea for a centerpiece would be to make photocopies of pages from the yearbook and place them in the clear plastic displays that businesses often use. They would be great conversation pieces, and could be 'dressed up' with a few helium balloons with lots of curly ribbon hanging down from them. Or, how about covering a larger cardboard cube with glossy photocopies from the yearbook? Might be a little more affordable than the plastic displays and make more of an impact.

For some of the questions, be sure to ask about the hang out places, the businesses you all frequented, that are now gone. Ask about some of the assemblies you all had to attend.

We made lots of photocopies of photos that we as a committee had of us from back in the day also. We even sent out request for people to send in some of their photocopied photos. These were placed on the tables over the table cloths and then covered in clear plastic.

In the center of the tables, we purchased school colored handled gift bags, we weighted them with jars of rice. Then filled the top with school colored tissue, and tied helium balloons to the handles. We were in a huge ballroom and needed height. We made sure when you sat at the tables, they did not block, the view of the seated people.

On the bags, we had the school name and the mascot just glued onto them. The hotel set up the mirrored " plateaus" (round things on the center of each table) and they also had the votive candles to place around this so the " School Bags with the Balloons" attached sat on top of the mirrored plateaus, surrounded by the votives."

We also had people that had saved some of the school newspapers, handouts, programs, school weekly menus from the cafeteria, spirit ribbons. We color photocopied lots of these and had them laminated so people could look and read them and pass them around.

We even did a few 6 ft tables by the entrance of the actual items. Manaquin with a cheerleader uniform, drill team uniform, and all of those class tshirts.
Tassels, band patches, spirit ribbons, buttons, people had all sorts of items that they had saved. We covered theses actual items on the table with a large clear plastic cloth, so no one would be tempted to take the items that had been loaned to us.

Have a blast!

I know they sell an 80s trivia game, maybe they sell a 90s one too and use the cards from the game.

Take flower pots (or some kind of fun vessel - I've used plastic top hats, large plastic margarita glasses, etc.) and fill with sand/kitty litter, make smallish photocopies of pics from your yearbook and cut out and glue black to back on bamboo skewers and place so they are sticking out of the sand. You can incorporate in other images like school mascot, colors, flowers or leaves. It's really inexpensive and people like to look for photos of themselves. You could also incorporate in some trivia with it.

It's really inexpensive and people like looking at it.

have fun!

I really like the idea of doing something like this:
http://www.mypapershop.com/260960/50th-birthday-table-cen...

Of course, replace the 50 with your grad year and instead of Happy Birthday cover the box with Questions from your year as well. You could put the answers in tiny text underneath the questions. Make sure you tie in the colors of your school and you could even include the mascot.

Have a great time!

get a block of styrofoam that you squish down into a flower pot. then get sticks to put out of it with photo's / questions so they stick up like flowers you can make the photo's whatever size you want. I would do photo's of movies from when you graduated, songs that were popular and maybe some of events from highschool like the big game, maybe plays that the school did during your 4 years etc.
