Need Back-up Day Care

I am a clueless first mom who is 7 months pregnant and I have a good friend who will be taking care of my baby during the day. However, I'm looking for a back-up local daycare/nanny/babysitter for those days when/if my friend gets sick or has to go out of town, etc. It would have to be someone or someplace that could take my child at the spare of the moment, since I probably won't know until the night before or morning of if I need backup daycare. I live in Frisco. Does anyone have any suggestions for daycare that I could look into to? I would GREATLY appreciate it!

What can I do next?

M., have you heard about Kiddin' Around Playcare in Frisco? It is a drop-off (hourly) daycare center near Ohio and Lebanon. I've heard good things about the place. A friend of a friend uses it often and loves it. I know it's probably not the ideal situation , but you know it would always be there. Good luck to you! S.

I don't know where all the locations are, but my son goes to Children's Choice Learning Center - there are several all over the Metroplex. They are 24 hours a day, have sick rooms (meaning if your child is sick, he/she can stay there and be tended by a nurse), and take drop-ins. I first found them because I needed back up daycare, too. Eventually, they became my permanent (my nanny went back to school). I really like the company - good philosophies, great atmosphere, and we use them for date nights, too.

Not sure if there is one in Frisco, or maybe close to wherever you work, but worth checking out. Their website isn't that thrilling, but will give you some basic info. www.childrenschoice.com. Most daycare centers that I know of allow drop-in care. You usually just have to pay a registration fee. I can't vouch for others, but I can say that there was only one time the Children's Choice couldn't accomodate me. Think the 24 hour thing gives them some more flexibility than other centers. Good part about that is you can call late at night to ask about the next day because someone will be there!

Congrats on your upcoming journey into parenthood! And good luck with daycare - it can be a stressful decision-making period.

I dont' know that name of it, but they have a drop off daycare in Frisco that a friend of my has used. You pay buy the hour or something and you can drop them off. Maybe this could be helpful.

Hi I also live in Plantation. For back-up daycare you may want to try Kiddin' Around I know they have drop-in daycare.

If after time, having your friend watch your baby isn't working, you may want to try Warren Montessori. I send my 11 month old and 3 year old there. I am very please with the staff and facility.

Hi M.,

I don't know of a lot of places that will take a baby for just a day or two, because they have to keep spots open for enrollees. You may want to contact a nanny service. I found this one online, it's out of Dallas http://www.thenannyagencyinc.com/ . Give them a call, they may be able to lead you in the right direction. Have you considered working from home? You wouldn't have to worry about getting a nanny :)
Congratulations on your first baby, your life will change in ways you can not imagine....good ways!

Have a great weekend!

I live in Frisco too across from Plantation. I have seen this place close by on the intersection of Ohio and Lebanon called Kiddin' Around Playcare. I have never used it but when they first opened there was a huge write up in the Frisco paper about them. It might be worth a visit. I know for sure they take "drop offs"

I see you live in Frisco and if you're willing to drive there's a learning center in East Plano called Small Miracles. My daughter goes there and loves it, they have drop-in care, though I'm not sure how full the infants' room is. ###-###-####

I have used Kiddin Around in Frisco. (located east of Lebanon and Ohio - ###-###-####) It's a drop in hourly service that I was referred to by another parent. My two toddlers love it. When given little to no notice, it has worked well for me. I have also referred a couple of other parents who seem pleased with them. Good Luck.
