Here are some ideas I saw on Overstock.com I was thinking about having my daughter's fourth birthday at the zoo as well, so I was trying to find a cute, inexpensive outfit for her. I liked these outfits because they were cute, functional and not too over the top!

Hi, I own an online boutique www.thebabysbundle.com. It would be super cute if you did a black shirt with a #4 on it in leopard or zebra print, matching black pants and maybe a hair bow with the same animal print.

Amazon.com has a safari costume and oriental trading company has safari hats and cool goodies too.

I would just have her wear a white t-shirt and some cheap kackie or light brown shorts.(if you can find a small vest or make one) The fun would be finding the hat,go to the boys hat section at a wal-mart or target, even some of the girls hats might work. An cheap pair of binoculars and a mangnifying glass will give things to do at zoo,you could print out pics of the animals they will see at the zoo and they can check each one off they see...hmm..have her help pack of suplies you need for the adventure at the zoo! Some boots w/white socks and a bandana would finish it off. Don't know if my rambling is any help,just throwing something out there for ya! :) good luck!
Ps. The cheapy one use camares are great for the kids you'll get some wicked funny shots!

Why not do a cute dress with capri leggings underneath? My daughter has a problem with keeping her dresses down like a lady so we always make sure she has something underneath. A dress with those little leggings that are right under the knee length with lace trim at the bottom look very cute and they are inexpensive too. You can find them at Walmart, Target, Old Navy.

Sometimes they have safari outfits at the zoo gift shop. I've never really looked at them before, and I don't know how much they were or remember if they were cute, but you might want to check it out. Couldn't hurt to look.

Take some tan shorts and a tan shirt.. decorate the shirt with butterflies and (stencils; painted on ?) draw her name on the pocket like she is a zoo worker?
Don't stress too much..the kid won't remember this event anyway ...unless it ends badly LOL

What if you just made a vest?? It could be out of a safari print?

I know The Children's Place had a safari line with some cute dresses, you might be able to find one on e-bay.
Also try Gymboree, I believe they too had a safari line.

You can google Safari outfit 4T and a lot of cute stuff comes up on Ebay. Also, what about dressing her up in an animal costume and having her friends do the same? That would be kinda fun!

Children's Place & Old Navy always have cute stuff for summer. Get her some cute cargo shorts with a t-shirt & a hat so she can climb & get dirty at the zoo. Old Navy usually has cute fisherman bucket hats that could be safari. Also, the zoo gift shop has some adorable hats, so maybe get her hat there & it can be a momento of the big day & something she can wear for a while. Have fun!

There are cute safari outfits at the zoo. It is a whole out khaki shirt/short ensemble and it's about $50 dollars, if I remember correctly. It even comes with sunglasses! Hope you find what you're looking for.

Hi T.- I do custom embroidery as a side business if you are interested in making her a special personalized shirt. She can wear the shirt with khaki shorts or pants. You can then make her a special safari hat from construction paper, or those flexible foam sheets from the craft store, OR I can also make really cute hair bows that could be in the same safari colors as the shirt.

My oldest daughter had a monkey theme party for her 2nd b-day and I made her a shirt with a monkey on it and her name below in pink, and I am currently make a safari shirt for a friend that has a lion on it and the child's name below. I have a variety of safari designs. If you provide your own shirt, I only charge $10 to do the embroidery (you can get plain colored shirts that are perfect at Target for $4.99).

You could also get her khaki shorts, a whit shirt and a hat this this one. I'm sure the zoo sells these hats. She could wear the shorts and shirt again.
