I am a mother of 4, 3 daughters ages 6, 3-1/2, 2; plus a son age 10. I gave all of my children soy milk until I found out last year that it's not a good thing. I learned this from several separate sources (natural health care practioners and books). I was told to take both my son and 2 yr. old off of soy milk. Most of us think that we're doing something good by giving our children soy milk as an alternative, but it actually causes more problem. I learned that soy milk adversely affects thyroid function, along with other things. Research it on the internet and you will find more information on this. I also highly-recommend the book "Medisin." You can order it on Amazon. It has a whole chapter about soy milk, soy formula, etc. Your daughter's body is trying to tell you something by rejecting the soy milk. Options to try are made from natural sources such as almond milk and hemp milk. Do your own research. And good luck with finding a healthy option for our daughter.

Hi C.,

I'd try rice milk or goat milk first. If they don't work, I would try organic cow's milk. A lot of the problems with milk and formulas today have nothing to do with the lactose but with the hormones and the chemicals that are put into processed milk. Our pediatrician said my oldest daughter was lactose intolerant and there is just as much lactose in organic milk and she tolerates that fine.

This is probably a blessing in disguise. There is too much estrogen in soy milk for a little girl. It can speed up the menses process and cause female issues down the road. Little boys should never have it. I know there are a lot of mothers that don't think cow's milk is good for you (we only use organic and we do limit it in our house) but I think it's better than soy for the reason I just mentioned.

God bless!

M.

Hi C.,
I agree with Mimi. The soy is not a good idea. The problem with soy is it is good for us in balance but NOT as a majority of ones diet. When it comes to a baby, if thats her main food source then her body with react badly to it. It is a good thing she's stopping it now. I mixed goats milk in w/ my breast milk when I had to sub. I also went to Horizon Organic Infant Formula when my daughter was about 10 months. She did great on this. I would also mix the goats milk with the formula at times. Goat is the next best thing to mom but it does lack a few key elements so just dont use it alone. The Horizon was wonderful. I had to order it from their website but it was great. Hope it helps! Best of luck to you guys!

Hi,
I just sent this same reply to another mom out there! There is a way to make homemade formula that has worked for a lot of moms I know. I tried it as well, but my daughter could not tolerate the milk protein (usually the problem for babies with an intolerance to cow's milk formulas). We did goat's milk and she was a totally different baby. She is now well above average in height and weight (she was considered "failure to thrive" at 2 months). I (at first) was uncomfortable about trying anything that went away from the "norm", but it gets to the point where you become desperate and willing to do just about anything! Plus, when I saw the results, I was hooked! :)
