I woke up this morning to find my pomeranian not moving, shes only a little over a pound..but I picked her up and she just fell over.
She was breathing very good at all, and the past few days before I found her like this she has been very weak and has had small amounts of blood in her stool. I gave her some pedialyte to restore her fluid and prevent dehydration and gave her some kayro syrup for energy and a little egg yok....shes a little better but still weak and sleeping alot. Does anyone KNow WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS??? please help!

What can I do next?

Did she have diarrhea when you found blood in the stool? She may have dehydrated despite the efforts. Lightly pinch her skin and see if it stays in the pinch position. If it does she dehydrated and you have to take her to the vet to get her an IV.

I don't understand why you would not take action when this supposedly has been going on a few days.

What is the holdup? GO the the ER vet. You are risking your pup's life by waiting and trying to do it yourself.

If $$ is an issue, most of the vet's will work with you. GO

With having such a small dog it could be a number of things. Some of which she should have responded to. Are you saying that she was not breathing well at at? If so, she needs to be seen by a vet at that point. As for the blood in her stool this is not normal and needs to be checked out. Worms? Injury? It would not take much to harm a dog of this size and things can go downhill very quickly. She needs to be evaluated by a vet and hooked up to an IV if she really is this weak. If she has been sick for the past few days, I would not wait any longer for medical treatment.
Best Regards,
C.

Those might have been seizures. It doesn't have to be shaking etc to be seizures sometimes it is just a blank look/slash weekness. She might have epilepsy. Unfortunately when people breed dogs to be that small there has to be a lot of inbreeding. I am not sure what kind of breeder you purchased her from but if they don't have good practices it can contribute to problems like these. If they are a good breeder and it turns out to be epilepsy they will want to know. You need to take her to a vet. Especially with her being so small she could get dehydrated and in a poor condition very fast in a few hours say vs. a few days with a larger dog. If it turns out to be epilepsy she will have to be on medication for the rest of her life. Please take her to a vet so she can be properly evaluated especially if she is pooping blood that is SERIOUS.

Please take your dog to the vet. It is impossible to figure this out on your own without the vet seeing this dog. Poor thing. I hope the pup feels better soon.

HOW OLD is the dog? Is she a puppy? Updated on shots?

Almost sounds like parvo to me, which is very deadly (especially in puppies). Get her to the vet and good luck, hope she's ok!!

How old is your pom? Has she had her shots? Have you taken her to the vet? Is there a funky smell about her? Sounds like it might be parvovirus. This is usually fatal. It can be prevented by getting her vaccinated at an early age -- first shots at around 6 to 8 weeks and two or three additional injections at 2 to 4 week intervals as specified by your vet. It is a multi-vaccine injection -- it covers several illnesses -- including parvovirus (parvo). If you haven't already, I would get her to the vet immediately. If it is parvo, sometimes it can be cured -- but it's not easy. It takes a lot of antibiotics and a lot of work on everybody's part and is hard on the dog. Usually it cannot be cured. Sorry for the bad news and I really ope I'm wrong. Good Luck.

Any number of things might have caused this. You should get her into a vet ASAP, and you should be aware that human medications/foods (i.e., karo syrup and pedialyte) are not necessarily appropriate for dogs. Be sure to tell vet about blood in stool etc.
